    6850 vs 6870

    Hi,

Just about to order a new mini ITX build, and just debating the GFX card. for like £20 - £30 more I could get the 6870 over the 6850. So wondering if it's worth it. I know it all depends on what I want to do but more importantly, I want to fit it in a silverstone sg05 case, so temp and also noise from card concerns me.
Will the 6870 be alot hotter/louder?
A few high end PC games like dirt 3 etc and want to run emulator for wii games at 1080p which need good graphics for this.

People on another area of these forums helped with the rest of the build , but just undecided between the two GFX cards, £20-£30 doesn't seem a great deal more, but is it better for my build.

    rest specs: i5 2500k, 8GB 1600Mhz, Asrock Z68M-ITX, 60GB SSD, corsair H60 CPU cooling, sg05 case 450W PSU.

    Thanks. 6850 or 6870?

I would get an HD6870 1GB as long as it is not more than £140. If you look around GTX560TI cards can be had for around £150:

OTH,the HD6870 1GB does consume less power at load when compared to a GTX560TI.

ok great, it is under £140 stock so nice to know, is there a big difference between the 560TI and the 6870 then? If the loads better on the 6870 I will get that but just out of curiosity?

As always, it depends on what games you want to play. This may help.

A 1gb 6870 can be had for £126. Although, in case you're not aware, AMD are about to release their 7800 series which may be something to consider waiting for.

That is extremely helpful, seeing all those games pitted against each other. As the 560ti is a little bit more expensive, I think I will stick with the 6870. I was going to pay £130 for another 6870 that had a blower exhaust casing, so it wouldn't heat up my case as much, but thanks for the link to the sapphire.

I'm impatient at this point and can't wait now, so will settle on the 6870.
