Had a look at the respective sites and specs and cant see for definate, need to have proof that the cards will, sorry im at work and need to find this out for a customer

It seems the x800XT can.
With 4 quads enabled the Hierarchical Z-Buffer has around 4 mega pixels of (lower level) Z buffer storage capabilities, which should be good for over 2048 resolutions, which means that high definition resolutions like 1920x1080 are fully covered. Should the screen resolution exceed that of the maximum capabilities of the Hierarchical Z-Buffer it is not disabled entirely, instead a portion of the Z-buffer is setup in the Hierarchical Z-Buffer to its maximum storage capability and then anything that falls out of that range falls back to the early pixel level reject, so the majority of the screen can still be captured by the Hierarchical Z-Buffer.

Hi Platinum, sorry for digging this old thread up again, but upI'm in exactly the same position!

I need a PCI-e card with a single DVI capable of running an LCD panel at 1920x1200.
Doesn't need to be a fast 3d card - it's only for a decent 2D desktop / application.

redbird, are you sure it'll do 2048x1536 in DVI or rather have you seen a LCD panel with a native resolution of 2048x1536

If you don't need fast 3D and just care about image quality, then Matrox is your puppy. They've released a PCIe version of the P650 (I use the AGP version, but not at THOSE resolutions ) that'll support 1920x1200 on a single DVI or 3840x1200 using the dual DVI outs. You can get it from ShopMatrox for £139 ex VAT, which ought to be somewhat lower than going the X800XT route.
