Good Digital Camera in the Dark?

Hey guys, I was just wondering what digital camera takes great pictures in the dark?

I was thinking to go for a Sony DSC-P8 3.2mp as they normally have great flash, but what are your opinions?

DSC-T1 has an absolutely AWESOME flash on it. I've took loads of piccies in the dark with this camera and the quality was great as well.

Oh... and Stan says he's busy with Rebecca atm

Wont be a massive difference in that kind of market in flash capabilitys, it more of a case of how well YOU can take pictures in a dark enviroment. To take better than a avarage point and shoot picture in the dark a whole load of things come into play, like the camera ISO ability ( the higher the iso the more light it takes in but sadly the higher the iso the more the grain on the picture ) Then you also have manual controls so that you can set the f stop and the shutter speed. Thats something you need to look into more than me trying to explain what to do as it can change with the amount of light and movment your dealing with.

You will need a camera with an AutoFocus assist lamp - that way the camera can still focus in the dark. (without one digital cameras struggle in dark situations) Most cameras have them thesedays but some don't so it's worth checking before you buy.

as an amateur photographer (35mm not digi) myself id rarely use a flash in a nightclub (it tends to drown out the atmosphere) and if i did i'd make sure it was a little flash alongside a longer exposure. all this is hard to find on a normal digicam, but a friend had a casio elixim 3.2mp that took great shots on some kinda night mode or similar, look it up, see what you think, im sure it wasnt that expensive

I bought a sony dsc-u30 http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...453019-2336408 for taking pics in nightclubs etc. Great flash and has taken great pics. Also small so can easily be slipped in pocket.

Canon's do normally have pretty strong flashes, although my old S20 if anything was a little too strong..

Taking photos in nightclubs, unless you want togo arty I would use a light flash with diffuser at the cieling for close up shots, and for wider shots just dont use a flash at all as you'll lose all the lighting from the club. You ideally need a camera that can take good shots at ISO800 or higher without going very grainy.
