    HD6870 1Gb and BF3

What spec do you guys run and what sort of FPS do you get..?

I currently run 2 monitors, one at 1920*1080 which is my main monitor then a 1600*1050 which has my TS window and web browser open in.

I'm not sure if its the second display thats killing my FPS but I pretty much have to run BF3 in low to get playable rates all the time (vsync on)..

Playing at 1680x1050 on high with the same card. All smooth.

Playing 1920x1080 with the other screen being 1280x1024 and not noticing any slowdowns.

Only one way to check.. Disable the 2nd monitor and see if it's any better.

that is a WEIRD res mate.

and with V sync on.. it might not even be the same refresh rate.

or do you mean 1680 by 1050?

    Re: HD6870 1Gb and BF3

right... well I can't help then
i think Hoonigan is right... take the second monitor off and see what occurs.

on my 6950, whe I boot CoD W@W all seems well... then about 30 seconds later,.. BOTH screens go black. and then they come back again, and work a treat.

but for 5 seconds I'm stood like a plumb being shot at.. blind.

it happens EVERY time... so Dual Head gaming clearly has an issue... maybe your setup never gets top full game mode.

Can you play in a window (normally Cntrl Enter I think)

    Re: HD6870 1Gb and BF3

Turn v-synch off that kills your frame rate as well. Also turn off HBAO or SSAO. It will make the shadows not look as good but its a bit of a frame rate killer on ATI cards.
