Replacement cooling assembly - NVIDIA 7950GT

    I have a CLUB3D NVIDIA 7950GT (256MB) that needs a replacement GPU cooling assembly.

Can I find anything suitable? Nope, not a thing.

It's decent card - though far from top-end - and it would be nice to be able to use in somewhere, rather that add it to my pile of stuff for the recycling centre.

    All suggestions massively appreciated.

    TIA

    Bob C

    limited choice but

personally due to it being old and not worth much i would tie wrap a fan over the broken fan (after removing it) as that's plenty enough airflow.

if you opt for a ghetto mod remove the heatsink and clean off the old thermal paste, get the dust bunnies out and apply some fresh paste.

ghetto mods = best type of mods for cards of this age. Cable ties, garden (insulated wire) and in some cases a glue gun work wonders

looking at that heatsink (aka small cast but of ally with a mini fan) i think the top plate can be removed, if it can your on a winner as a 80mm fan stuck over it will triple its cooling performance.

An Akasa Vortex is a good cooler for jobs like this.

Re: Replacement cooling assembly - NVIDIA 7950GT

Thanks all for the suggestions - most appreciated!

However, I'm looking for something relatively simple and I think that jiggeruk definitely takes the cigar for his suggestion of an Akasa Vortex - it looks just the just and the price is right, too.

Turned today, so I'm looking forward to seeing how well it fits and works - though that may have to wait for a day or four.

    Cheers

    Sorry, forgot to update people!

Turns out that the Akasa Vortex doesn't fit my NVIDIA 7950GT.

Oh, well, it was worth a shot.

    Cheers

Bob email or phone the GPU OEM and ask if they have any spares or a recomendation for a ghetto fan-cooler.

Can't find a phone number and the web-based "email" form has lots of fields I'd not be able to fill.

    Ho hum.

    Cheers
