    hd6870 crossfire v.s. hd 7950 or hd7770 crossfire

Now it happens to be that I m one of the lucky winners in the Sapphire hd7700 competition.
So I ve won either a hd7950 oc or a hd 7770 oc card(as of yet hexus wont tell me)
    This gives me several options;
my present config. has 2x XFX hd 6870 in crossfire which scales pretty neet.

    first:What should I do if I win the hd7770? Sell the 6870 s second hand and buy a second hd7770?What are the(dis)advantages?

second: what if I win the sapphire hd 7950? Comparing the kitguru preview and the hexus preview gives not a conclusive advantage exept when on the longer term I save up for a second 7950 , but then my 1100T will be the bottlenek(I think)

    so good advice is welcome........

Actually I'm not sure. Depends on the game and your display set up. Typically, if your game/setup will benefit from CF'd 7950s, then it's going to be so demanding on GPU that your CPU isn't likely to be a bottleneck. Check out the CF reviews for the 7970 etc. to see.

    Re: hd6870 crossfire v.s. hd 7950 or hd7770 crossfire

The 7770 performs worse than a 6870 in most scenarios, and even x-fire 7770's perform worse than a single 6870 is some scenarios ( source: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/H...ossFire/1.html )
Therefore, if I got the 7770, I would personally sell it, as it's not at the level of your current build (not even paired with a second one).

Now, if you win the 7950, then that's a bit of a tough one. It performs worse than 2x 6870, however it does consume less power, can be overclocked like a beast AND, what I think is most important, is a single card, so it eliminates any possibility of games not working due to crossfire.
But at the end of the day, you would be making your system less capable. Prices are quite high for these cards nowadays, so I guess you could sell this one two, and perhaps wait until something worth your while comes out...

    Re: hd6870 crossfire v.s. hd 7950 or hd7770 crossfire

Kalniel:for my setup click "system", main thing is that I play all my games in(tridef) 3d with a passive LG.
    BF3,anno2070,skyrm , mw3,assasins creed (all), mafia2,deus x,dead space2 , total war 2.
ghost Florian: about the 7770 s, thats clear, might buy for the money a second ssd for raid0.for the hd7950, must say I m more than tempted to keep it,so in 2 years or so when the second card is affordable (for me) I might further upgrade.
extra Question: do you think my corsair 850 psu will be adequate for a 7950 crossfire setup?
edit; found a crossfire review on kitguru, think my psu would do just fine......

Sure, the choice is all up to you. I was just outlining the pros and cons of keeping it at the present time If you plan to get another one in the future, then yes, keep it.
Hope you win the 7950 though )
