GTX 580 worth the extra £80 over the 570?

Looking to place an order for a new build in the next couple of days. I'm decided on most things but need some advice on the gfx card.

I had settled on a GTX 570 but I'm just wondering if the upgrade to a 580 is worth the extra £80ish price hike?

    Thought please.

You can look on many graphics card hexus reviews to see the difference between the two then determine if the price difference is worth it However personally if i asked myself the same question i would go for the 580

    Hope this helps.

I always use techpowerup for a rough comparison of cards.

According to this the GTX 580 is about 15% faster at 1920x1200.
    Main - Intel Core i5 2300 @ 3.5GHz, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM, Asus P8P67 Pro, Coolermaster iGreen 600w, GTX 480, Antec One Case

Im in exactly the same situation. Ive done a lot of reading and the general opinion was to get the 570 based on price/performance. Unless you have the extra cash of course.

Ive settled on the twin frozr iii 570.

Re: GTX 580 worth the extra £80 over the 570?

Same problem here. Have pretty much decided on the 570 myself. My choice was made easier by the fact I have not got a powerful enough PSU for a 580.

I think the 570 handles most things. Is a ~15% performance boost on the 580 worth a 35% price hike? For me it would end up being a 60% price hike as I'd have to spec a new PSU too. So no not worth it for me.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Going for the 580 now. Saved a few quid on a couple of others bits.

If the PSU I'm planning on getting has 4 x 6+2pin PCI-E Power connectors, is that ok for the 580?

Ahh... Late... Had both cards the last time they're out.

Tbh, if I were to choose again, the 570 gets my vote. Barely felt the difference at 1080p. Not worth the extra squids..

If its not because me moving out for a job, would've still be running them.

Just got a 680 Gtx, and my god what a waste of money for 1080p as its complete overkill. Would've been fine if it's a 7870/570gtx..
    Me want Ultrabook
