OK help me make a QUICK decision on what vid card to order...

OK hello people, i've FINALLY got my account here enabled, for some bloody reason it hadn't been activated by the mods since Sept 2003, I was desperate to start posting too.

OK i've already ordered an X800XT that is due in stock tommorrow in the UK for £320. (from lowestonweb)

Only problem is that now i've just seen a 6800GT in stock for £280 (PCWORLD component centre).

Now I know the 6800GT is going to OC to an Ultra and because of this is going to provide better bang for the buck, but i'm still not sure whether it will be better than the X800XT in terms of raw performance.

What do you think I should do? This is not an ATI vs Nvidia competition, I know image quality is now pretty much equal, and all-in-all they aren't too dissimilar performance-wise. The question is... is it worth paying the extra £40 to possibly have the edge in performance? Or do you think that with further driver updates the 6800Ultra will catch up with the X800XT?

If im going to order the 6800GT and cancel the X800XT I need to do it tonight, i'm just torn between the two...

Please bear in mind i'll only likely keep it for a year or so max, it ain't going to be an uber long-term upgrade, i'll upgrade and sell the card in a year or so while it still retains some value, as opposed to keep it for ages until it's worth bugger all.

Cheers in advance, and I look forward to hanging around here a bit, i'm a member of several forums and i've been waiting to join this one simply because everyone is mainly UK based and some forums are so full of whiney americans it just kills me.

Stick with the x800xt, you wont regret it. If it was a 6800ultra i would be unsure but even then would probably go with the x800xt. Keep- your order

The 6800ultra and x800xt are both awesome cards the 6800gt is going to need overclocking- the performance just wont be as good.

Outside of performance terms ATI has it nailed too.

'Cancel' and 'X800XT' should not be in the same sentance.

Keep the XT. You won't regret it.

lol I ended up keeping the X800XT order, and it's due in today supposedly. Arrgh if it turns out to be delayed i'm going to be spitting feathers mark my words. Is it true the Evesham cards are just rebadged Connect3D's? Has anyone else ordered one from there?

No its not, its looking dodgy.

They have just sent another mail:

    "Dear Vaul,

With regards to your order for a Radeon X800 XT PE card, I am afraid that the suppliers of these cards contacted us this afternoon to say that due to stock shortages and the high demand for these cards, they now cannot deliver them to us until the end of July. We therefore cannot now confirm any expected delivery date to our customers.

Please accept our apologies for the delay in your order. If you now wish to cancel this order, please let us know otherwise we will despatch the products as soon as they arrive.
Once again, I apologise for the convenience this delay has caused.

    Regards,
    Low Web."

Rich, we've been done up like a couple of kippers.

ARRGHHHHHH NOOOOOOOO Vaul I got the same bloody email, I nearly sh|t meself, I was fuming to say the least!

The 6800GT's on the PCWORLD component centre website are also delayed for 7-14 days so they're a no-go. On the other hand, Tekheads.co.uk has another batch of those Club3D X800PRO's VIVO's that are basically re-badged XT's. The problem with that is they are in fact more expensive than the true XT's we ordered, and their re-sale value will be far lower because they are PRO's, whether they mod into XT's or not.

All of the signs point towards waiting for those damn Evesham X800XT's, it is the smart choice, especially in the long-run. It's just the waiting, oh the waiting... lol.

Did I mention my 21" Samsung 1100df that was also due in today has also been delayed to the end of the month? Excuse me gentlemen, i'm off to drown my sorrows with a greasy fry-up and a cold Stella.

How long have you had it ordered since mate? They did manage to get one shipment out though didn't they? Even though we have to wait a bit, the fact that these are genuine XT's, and are the same price as the X800 PRO's VIVO's, swings heavily in their favour. Wonder how much I can OC it to.
