price check and advice on a geforce 5 fx 256

i have been offered a geforce 5 fx 256meg, not sure how much would be a fair price to pay and how good the card is?

what sort of games will this run at a good level?

Well, IMHO (others may differ!), I'd say £30-100. If it's a 'top end' card of the last generation (i.e. a 5950) then around about £100. If it's anything less than that (i.e. 5900 down to 5700 then all the way down to the 5200) then you are looking on a sliding scale down to about £30. Have a look on a few web sites for type of card he is offering you to get some new prices, then lop half that cost off.

When you consider that an ATI 9800 Pro can be bought second-hand for under £100 (even new for just over) and is a better card than any of Nvidia's last-gen., then I think that's how you should drive your pricing (plus of course "how much am I prepared to spend").
