I know it might be too niché at the moment, but it would also be good to see the '3D' such as Nvidia 3D vision and AMD S3D charted out as well.

Yeah, i've been wondering this as well - although i was under the impression it was basically cut the frames in half = 3D performance.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Some of the games like Crysis 2 built for stereo only lose less than 20% max in 3d. Most games lose 33-50% but Nvidia 3d, tridef etc often don't like shadows and some hi-end post FX so you can regain the FPS due to lower settings....

FXAA and soon TXAA is going to be a big help for FPS and 3d. Batman Ac is very playable in 3d on a 680 in the exact way it wasn't on a 580.

Personally I suspect a 670 2Gb is entry level for lag free Nvidia 3d in the vast majority of games certainly the more complex DX11 ones.

very impressive that 670 beats 7970. 7970 is only better a larger resolution thanks to its 3G ram

It has nothing to do with the 3G vram. It's the memory bandwidth and/or other GPU differences.

eh no. The amount of VRAM is critical for large resolutions

    Re: GTX670 review thread

    Hi guys, first time poster.

Has anyone had any experience/can recommend the EVGA 670 FTW card?

Thinking of buying it from scan.

Although if anyone can advise, I have the Z68 Asus motherboard running PCI-e 2.0 - is this compatible with a PCI-E 3.0 card?

    Cheers

    Re: GTX670 review thread

EVGA cards are popular because of the best warranty options (up to 10 years). They don't seem to do much in terms of custom cooling though, and you'll find quieter options (e.g. the Asus DirectCU II).

    It's fully backward compatible, yes.

Thanks. Yes the one I'm looking at has a 3 year warranty. I was going to upgrade from my ASUS AMD 6970 to the 7970, but the ASUS cards have a lot of issues apparently to do with their CUII cooler not correctly gripping the board, so I'm looking into returning to nvidia.

No, the Asus 7970 DirectCU II cooler is absolutely fine. I have one myself. It's silent and temps are good. I think it's possibly the Asus 7850 cooler you've read about, as it's an appalling fit.

    Two 670s costs a hell of a lot more than a 7970.
