    Which TFT (take 2)?

    Hi!

I posted a similar thread a while back (been a good half year i think), but now I have money for then . Back then the recommendations were : LG 1710B, Iiyama 431S, and the NEC 1760.

Basically, the way things are going, ill probably get 2 (need one for my sisters rig aswell). Ill pass on the 431S since i cant find anywhere that does it for less than £300. My current shorlist consists of:

    17" Videoseven P17LS (14MS response, AU panel) - £229.33
    17" Benq FP767 V2 White/Silver £217.32 (16ms response)
    17" LG Flatron L1710B £264.32 (16MS, DVI)

The screens would be used for gaming, DVDs, and work. I would really like to get 2 of the LG's, but itd be around £100 more than the benq's.

Would appreciate peoples thought and comments .

I have an LG here and love it BUT I have sitting on my desk at the mo a Samsung SyncMaster 172v for someone from Microdirect and very impressed at the mo!

Very crisp, looks nice and no dead pixels. At £240 its a steal too!

My 1710b is very nice. If the others don't have DVI in and your gfx has DVI out then go for the LG.

Actually now that you say that.... Nah, but it does have this thing on the base so you can keep pens on it without them rolling off.

be aware that some mice (i.e mine) don't like that usb hub on the lg - although it is a cracking screen...don't forget the hyundai imagequest panels as well, they were another forum favourite, after the lg came back into fashion. Might be a bit pricier though.

The hyundai image quest uses the hydis screen. Its meant to be great although had a brightness problem. The other problem is anything with a hydis screen seems to be discontinued or expensive.

So its eems like the LG is the winner here, but need to see how much funds are available. I might have to just get one for my sister.

Had a look at the Samsung SM172V, but the 25ms response time is putting me off - anyone know what this is like with games?

Dont touch anything over 16ms for games. I have heard that that samsung ghosts slightly which is offputting. Shame as its a bit cheaper.

You get what you pay for really. Bundle the Lg with a card which has dvi out and wonder at the sharpness

Indeed. No ghosting at all, playing IL2 earlier and it looked lovely!
