    noob question

so if i got two of these 2GB MSI HD 6670, 1334MHz , GPU 800MHz, 480 Cores, DL DVI-I/HDMI/D-Sub would that be better than getting a really expensive one or should i save up and get the 2GB XFX HD 6950 DD Cooled, PCIe 2.1 (x16), 5200MHz GDDR5, GPU 830MHz, 1408 Cores, EyeFinity, HDMI/ 2x mini DP/ 2x DVI

    Re: noob question

Firstly, What resolution do you plan to play at? Secondly, What games do you intend to play and Thirdly, Is your budget £120 total?? (If you get enough posts on here you can set up free shipping with Scan ).

Between the 6670 and 6950 your looking at a huge difference, I would dare bet the 6950 will beat the two 6670's no problem at all but if u can give us some extra info people will be able to give you a better idea of what to go for

    Re: noob question

Exactly what rookie says. If I could get one graphics that matches or betters performance of an SLI/Crossfire Setup for the same price, i would always get the single card.

depends on the game but 6670 CF goes from being ` similar` to ` slower`; although the toms compare is the DDR3 6670 and not the faster DDR5 card

    Re: noob question

If you can find an extra £40 or so I think you would find that the 6950 would surpass your needs now and continue to deliver moving into the future. Alternatively you might want to consider an nVidia GTX560, these start at around £130 I think and so long as you are not planning to go more than 1080x1920 should be fine for those resolutions despite having less VRAM.

The 6950 will play Diablo III and Skyrim all day long with no problems at that resolution it should also give you enough power to run BF3 on Med/High at that resolution so its worth waiting and saving up for it

If your looking to buy the 6950 then you should get no less then 3 years out of it unless something big changes between now and then so its a worth while purchase imo.

    Re: noob question

An HD6870 1GB should be able to run Diablo 3 on maximum settings at 1920x1080 and Skyrim at decent settings too at the same resolution:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-x...i-hdmi-2x-mini

I would get an HD7850 2GB over an HD6950 2GB though, especially since it overclocks better and recently Ebuyer were selling one for around £160 too.

    Re: noob question

Speaking as someone who has two HD 6950 (feel free to ask questions) a single HD 6950 can run BF3 at 50+ fps on high/ultra and run at completely over 60 fps when crossfired. But please could you post your system information, especially what power supply you have, so we can get a better understanding of which card will suit.

    Re: noob question

I've looked at benchmarks and at 1080p resolution, doubling the gpus will result in a little under double the frame rates of a single card.
