    EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    Hello Everybody

    Just recently i posted asking whether i get GTX550Ti and a few suggestions came to get ATI AMD 6790. Now when i about to buy 6790 the next ay it was already sold. So i was left whatever is in the shop. Si decided to get a higher card which EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB which i bought yesterday.

    Now i currently using it and found that the temp the card reaches which is in load is about 90-93 deg.C. a little bit and it reaches boiling point of water.

    Is it common for a GTX560 Ti to produce heat this much or have any you experienced it? Should i return it to the shop?

    Thanks for the help.

    Kenneth

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    Thats quite high. The max temp the card can take is 100 degrees, What case do you have and how is your cooling setup? Also, do you know what % the GPU fan is running at this temp?

    You'll find at that high, your card is most likely throttling the clocks quite a bit.

    i hope you didnt use the drivers that came on the CD in the box. if so uninstall them and get the latest from the nvidia site.

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    @scotty,

    I'm using Cooler Master Elite 431 plus with all fans installed.

    @Gonzo

    I did not use the Driver from the box. I used the one from NVIDIA itself.

    I will try to uninstall the driver and install it again and see what happens.

    Thank you guys for the suggestions. Hope this works out.

    just out of curiousity, what program you using to monitor the temps? and what do programs do you use when the card goes hot? e.g prime 95 or games

    Secondly a silly one from my point of view, does the GPU fans spin?

    Thirdly does your CPU report high temps?

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    Get MSI Afterburner to monitor the GPU usage, temperatures and fan speeds (and to check they're actually spinning!). What temperature does the card idle at? GTX 560 Ti's should idle at around 30 degrees or so (depending on room temperature).

    As others have asked, there's a few things to consider. Your case (is there a lot of space, is it clean etc. for good air flow), a clean driver re-install (there's an 'Advanced' option in the NVIDIA installation wizard) and what game(s) are you playing that cause it to reach this temperature?

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    I have a 470, and it's very similar, I think the normal fan speeds are just to low, nvidia trying to hard to claim it's a quiet card. If you have no real need for it to be quiet, download EVGA precision, and use it's fan options(very simple), to have your fan start ramping up earlier, it'll be quite loud on full pelt, but I never notice while I'm gaming, gunfire tends to drown it out That's what I did, now even with an overclock it rarely gets past 65c, down from mid 90's.

    (quick edit; I'm assuming you mean load temps, if it's at 90 browsing the web, something is wrong)

    I agree with Chuck if you get thse temps on idle there has to be something wrong. What is your full specs on your system including Case and fans please.

    MSI afterburner is a good program to use. You can also define when your fan spins and how high it spins according to GPU temperature. Mine is currently set to be the same as the GPU temps e.g 30 degrees = 30% Fan speed e.t.c

    Mine was sitting at 60% at 90something c, which I thought was a bit silly. Thinking about it could probably go a lot lower happily at idle too. Maybe their fan profiles aren't very good at either end.

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    Hello All,

    After further test with the new driver. i found that MSI Kombuster and OCCT is not not optimized for the new driver R300 series and even 296.10.
    Everytime i try to test it with MSI Kombuster (@GPU Burn in test) the GPU core throttles down to 425 mhz to 850 mhz to 565 mhz when it reaches 88-92 deg.C

    @csgohan 4
    - i check the fan it's spinning and during high load (91-93) it turns fast and yo can here the noise form the card.
    - My CPU is at 41deg during high loads (AMD FX-4100)

    Please see below the OCCT test. I've put the limit to 100deg for auto shutdown of test. the default 85 deg does not work for me.

    So far D3 is working fine for me. Uniheaven test at maximum doesn't have any problems and 3D mark 11 too.

    So i believe that the latest drivers from NVIDIA does not support MSI Kombuster and OCCT.

    Thank you all for your inputs. I'll will do some more test later.

    regards,
    Kenneth

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    By the way i'm using Cooler MAster ELITE 431 Plus with (1) 140mm fan at front (3) 120 mm at the top, bottom and back and they are all spinning. I've added a 140mm fan positioned it at the rear end of the VC blowing air to the back.

    games i'm playing right now. Dragon Age 2, Reckoning and D3.

    Thanks.

    the temps are still way to high for normal usage, you might want to consider speaking to whoever you bought it from for a replacement

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    that is way too high still.
    Ihave an msi 560 ti it has the twin frozr 2 cooler on it which helps but i have mine running at a nice 1ghz core 4200 memory and i kid you not when i say my gpu temp has never gone above 55c under full load. on a really warm day two weeks back i spent about two hours overclocking and running furmark and 3d amrk 11 to find the best speed and it never went over 55c ever with a stock cooler i would not expect it to go over 75c as the 560 gpu runs quite cool generally

    Re: EVGA GTX560 Ti FPB Heat Problem

    KBE - I notice you are in Manila.

    Just to double check some issues I am sure you have already factored -
    how is the room temperature - is your room air conditioned?
    Is the PC placed in a small restricted area?
    Are any of the ventilation holes to the fans obstructed?
    Is there anything inside the case that may be obstructing the airflow?
    You have several case fans, are they all spinning in the correct manner to help good airflow?
    Are any other components running hotter than expected?
