AMD 12.7 BETA drivers give decent performance improvements with HD7900 series cards

I saw this in the Anandtech review of the HD7970 V2:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/6025/r...p-to-gtx-680/3

Hopefully, similar performance improvements will be seen for HD7950 and HD7970 users.

    Edit!!

    Here is another comparison:

Is the 12.7 beta release publicly available yet? I know there's a beta leak on guru3d, but the official one may be newer.

I'm hoping it's different, as the leaked one is no good for me - I get flickering and missing textures in Skyrim, and weird things like solid lines through the sky on the latest leaks, and UI corruption on the 12.7 leak.

I always look at Beta leaks with sceptisim as they do and will give problems in software but no harm in trying them, I would wait until the proper release of the 12.7 drivers are out and you stick with the drivers that came with your card.

There might not be any 12.7 drivers, as AMD has abandoned the regular cycle. The problem with the drivers that came with the card is that they're effectively beta themselves (they don't officially support the 7970). 12.4 is the last official release, and it's buggy (edge based AA is a total mess). I'm using the official 12.6 beta at the moment, which seems ok.

do you see any performance in games like BF3 with the 12.6 version

I don't have BF3, but performance is definitely improved on 12.6 beta vs 12.4 on various games, as well as fixing a few major bugs (e.g. edge AA gives me something like 15fps max in 12.4).

i'm impressed with the improvements if this is to be true, although comparing with the GTX 680 kinda negates the improvement just cause most games are optimized more with nvidia cards.

On avergae how much is to be expected when AMD are touting performance increases? I've just bought a 7870, am I likely to see much difference in the stated performance when they were benchmarked, and now, with several drivers behind them?
