GTX 670 NVIDIA Still stuttering with 304.48 Beta on a single GPU !

    Hi all...

I Bought a new NVIDIA MSI GeForce GTX 670 Power Edition OC to replace my MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr (1.5gb) to help with my tearing & the memory reaching max wilst playing BF3 (due to my res).
It has helped, I don't have any now & is smooth as silk (for most parts) + I can boost up some setting, all good apart from the Stuttering !

I have read that the stutter was down to SLI but it would apear not, my FPS are stable at 60FPS & drops by 1 to 59FPS in most areas.

I'm posting to see if any one else has this problem with the one GTX 670 or if its just my card ?

There's a known issue with the 670 and 680, though it was apparently slightly alleviated with the latest beta drivers... You're on those so I'm not sure.

If not, try rolling back to the 296 series, and no, it's not just you.

Turn off Adaptive V-sync options as well as Frame-Rate-Target if you have that on.

I have a GTX 680 and have only ever got stuttering once, which was in BF3.

I really can't remember, although i think i'd be inclined to go with yes as my FPS just nuked itself to about 30FPS out of nowhere and for no apparent reason then after a few seconds all was well.

As i said, that is the only time i've seen it happen but at the same time it could just be an erroneous performance dip. Not to mention the apparent lottery of performance and stability you can expect with BF3.

Thought I share that turning off Adptive V-Sync made it much better...Fingers crossed for a fix soon ?

Re: GTX 670 NVIDIA Still stuttering with 304.48 Beta on a single GPU !

Just thought I'd up date the thread.

Stay away from these's cards at the moment. I'm getting freezing with a black screen, Driver failing during game play (making the game un-playable due to FPS dropping to 4 FPS) & BSOD, I have looked at the window code but its mostly a power kernal 41 due to having to hard reset.

I know its not my other parts as I've swapped out the Mobo & CPU in a new rig & they are stable.

Whats funny is Nvidia have locked up there Forums stating "Under maintenance" for some days now, so somethings going on !

I not sure to RMA the card or wait for a fix from Nvidia in the shape of new drivers ?

There are some new beta drivers out today/yesterday so you could try them although nothing specific is mentioned in regards to stuttering.

Re: GTX 670 NVIDIA Still stuttering with 304.48 Beta on a single GPU !

If you RMA make sure you have a 100% reproducible scenario - that means ideally putting it in another computer under latest WHQL drivers and provoking a freeze every time with a simple benchmark like 3dmark11 or a game your retailer has said they would test with.

That said, I am now uncertain it is only a driver issue.. does it improve if you underclock? Yield on these cards is said to be quite low, so it's possible the chip is marginal.

Tried them with a fresh install of windows 7 ( I was up till 2am). The missus turned it on, used goolge Chrome & was about to enter something & it reset its self with windows stating an error 41 ! I will get a game in to see if it will do it to me...

That said, I am now uncertain it is only a driver issue.. does it improve if you underclock? Yield on these cards is said to be quite low, so it's possible the chip is marginal.
I've got to give this a try later but using Firefox or chrome should'nt freeze the computer, I could understand a game like BF3 on ultra !

I have had a google & there's a number of pages this problem, just can't place the reason

Re: GTX 670 NVIDIA Still stuttering with 304.48 Beta on a single GPU !

Right, can only use Standerd VGA drives or Safe mode as nothing will work ! The NEW 304.79 don't help & it can't be driver related now, surely ???

Sent this off to Novatech, what do you think my chances are of a RMA ???

    Hi...

I bought a MSI GEFORCE GTX 670 TWIN FROZR from you on the 21st of June, since I have had the card it keeps Black screening on Desktop, making the system restart in a loop, the error/event states Kernal 41. It seem to be getting worse now & happend's frequntly than the 1st days of having it with in my Rig, I have tried all sorts of trouble shooting but can't find a fix ! My system is un-usable with this card in & can only make it work with the standerd VGA drivers or in safe mode.

I have tried - the Nvidia WHQL drivers & Beta ones, re-installed my OS, bought a new motherboard (GA-Z68X-UD5 to Asus Z77 Sabertooth) with a fresh install on both, replaced my CPU (2500k to 3570K) at stock/no overclocking & mem tested my Ram with no errors.

I installed my old GTX 580 & my system works fine with current Beta driver 304.79, also worked with out a problems with all of the above changes.

I'm at a lossed end with testing & am here to seek where to go next ! Your Thought's please ?

    System spec-

    Intel 3570k (stock)
    Asus Z77 Sabertooth
    OCZ Vertex 3
    Corsair H100
    Cooler Master real power 850W
    Corsair Vengace 1600mhz (8gb)
    Window 7 64bit Retail.

    Regards Andrew Collins
