Have problem with one of them, the other is fine the cards do perform very admirably though, even having a faulty one I would still recommend them.

Apologises for the typing, iPad auto correct escapes me sometimes.

There are actually some pretty good deals on 7970s atm, so it pretty much comes down to which games you play, certain titles favour Nvidia, others favour AMD.
Yup, but you're comparing to the original reference model, which was underclocked. While the 670 is close to its limits, the 7970 has tons of headroom. The mildly higher clocked one (i.e. GHz edition) gives 60.9fps vs 59, and in a game that favours nvidia hardware too. I'm not saying someone should buy the 7970 instead of a 670, just that the 7970 is a slightly higher range card, more in line with the 680.

Re: Reccomendation for a new Graphics card

As you say even the new super duper Ghz edition can't beat the 670 on BF3, and it is considerably hotter and noisier as well.

This is why I said you should make your decision based on which games you play, both cards are good at different things.

You say the reference model is under-clocked, but the 'mildly higher clocked' one is far too hot and noisy.
Now maybe you can get one with a fancy custom cooler but that's definitely going to go over his £330 budget.

Like I said, I'm not making a recommendation, just comparing hardware. The cooler on both 7970 reference models is poor and should be avoided, the custom ones are generally silent. For a £330 budget the 7970 isn't currently an option, just as the 680 isn't either. As for BF3, like I said, this game quite strongly favours nvidia hardware, so it's not at all representative of overall performance, but it is important if that's the game you play most (and the 670 beats the 7970 GE by just 1fps, which is within margin of error, so they're equal here).

Re: Reccomendation for a new Graphics card

I decided to get a 670 I got the Palit 670 but wanted to get the Gigabyte one, I chose the Palit as it only requires 2 6 pin connecters rather than a 8 and a 6 pin connectors, I checked my cables and I'm not sure I have the cables to attach an 8 pin, can you guys help me with the issue, my updated system specs are on my profile, I use a 1050w OCZ GameXstream I would really like to get the Windforce 3x?

Re: Reccomendation for a new Graphics card

I may be wrong on this, but I think the gigabyte card will run with 2 6 pins, the 8 pin connector is just to provide extra headroom for over-clocking.
You won't need the extra power if you run it at the already pre-overclocked factory settings.

I find it hard to believe that your PSU doesn't have any 6+2 pin connectors?

    PS.
    Good price here:

Another forum member said they had good customer service too.

The Gigabyte should come with the necessary adapter to turn a molex connector into an 8 pin one.
