    Virtu MVP increased FPS?

    Hi All,

I got my new Scan 3XS system ten days ago and noticed the Gigabyte Sniper M3 MB supports a thing called Virtu MVP that uses both the discrete graphics card and the GPU built into the CPU.

I thought I'd give it a go with the following results:

When I first installed the Virtu MVP software it couldn't detect the integrated GPU so after much messing about I enabled the iGPU in the BIOS and allocated it 512mb of memory. Software still didn't work so I downloaded the intel ivybridge iGPU HD4000 driver from the Gigabyte website and installed it. After a re-boot the Virtu MVP software finally recognised everything and installed itself quickly.

Everything works fine and I ran 3DMark 11 for the sake of comparison. Before installing Virtu it gave 8968 and after it gave 10880. Games seem even smoother and I haven't seen any tearing of the type that Virtu claims to remove with it's v-sync stuff.

Overall, it's early days but the improvement seem real, but it's early days.

    My Specs:

    Gigabyte Sniper M3
    i7-3770K (OC to around 4.5ghz)
    EVGA 670 Superclocked 4mb
    8gig 1600 RAM
    120gb Corsair SSD
    1tb 7200rpm HD

    Re: Virtu MVP increased FPS?

see i dont understand where i have gone wrong. i installed it to my new system i built and when i played BF3 it was stuttering like mad. so i have disabled the virtu MVP. i am curious as to what your settings are as i dont really understand it. next to the games and applications menu there is some selection boxes you can choose to run it in. i might have a proper look at it today.

You can't use 3Dmark or FPS to benchmark accurately with virtuMVP at the moment - tools that report frames per second will report the wrong speeds due to the way it works.
