Question Are my GTX 690 Graphics Settings Ok?

I recently bought a GTX 690 and have been a bit disappointed with the performance in Battlefield 3. The average fps is fine, but seems to fluctuate a lot and significantly dips down during lots of action. The minimum fps actually doesnt seem much better than what I was getting with my old GTX 570!

So I just wanted to make sure I have everything set up correctly and optimised for performance... I have actually noticed a strange problem: Under Manage 3D Settings for Battlefield 3 for "Multi-GPU Rendering Mode" for some reason it is highlighted in bold:

When I click on it to bring up the drop down menu it then defaults to "Force alternate frame rendering 1" and strangely am unable to reselect "NVIDIA default". Playing with this mode gives me literally 25fps max! The only way to get back to the default is to click the Restore button at the top.

    Here are my Multi-GPU settings:

Seems like maybe there is some sort of conflict? I only use one monitor for gaming (BenQ) and no 3D glasses. I havent overclocked the card at all. Does everything look ok? Thanks.

    System: i7 2600k @ 4.7GHz, 16GB Ram, Windows 7 64bit, 240GB SSD, GTX 690, Asus P8Z68-V Pro

I got a 680 & in the nvidia panel I leave everything on default for BF3, Like you I have a Benq Monitor the XL2020T running at 120hz, This games engine is well optimized for alot of Graphics Card, maybe its something else on your system thats slowing it down. Go into your Windows 7 Control panel -> Power options -> Change plan settings , change it to Custom settings.

    Thanks for the replies.

@Gonzo: I did uninstall my previous drivers before downloading the latest ones and selected "Clean Install" from the options. Should that be good enough?

@Jace: Can I ask what sort of fps you are getting with your 680? My average fps on multiplayer is fine (158) but the fps nearly halved at times and dunno what could be straining it that much all of a sudden! Tbh Id rather have lower consistent frame rates than jumping between 80 - 200 odd as Im getting now!

yes clean install is fine. as you say it jumps between 80 and 200 i would say nothings wrong, set vsync and all should be good.
