    x800xtpe question

I'm thinking of buying an Evesham x800xtpe and as I'll be spending a lot of money I was wondering if any of you have the said card and is it a good card to buy. It seems rather cheap and thats why I'm keen Should I get it or is there a better card to buy for similar money.

Depends what you got at the moment really.
If you have something like the 9800Pro there is no reason to upgrade. I still have my 9800 Pro so can't comment on the actual performace of the card but just wondering if you actually have a real reason to upgrade unlike some people on these boards (who upgrade from a 9800Pro to a 6800GT!)

I have a 9700pro its not a desperate situation I know but the card is starting to show its age a bit in the latest games.

It you want to play the latest games, Doom III, Half Life II, Rome: Total War, and FarCry at the highest res pos, with tons of AA and AF, and smooth frame rates, then yes, its wort the upgrade.

If you're not that fussed, and can get by with turning a few of the effects off and turning down the res, then its not worth it.

The 6800Ultra and X800XT-PE leave the previous high end cards, the 9800XT and 5950Ultra in their wake. There is a big performance jump.

Worth £320-£350 quid? As I said, that depends on how you want your games to look and how important it is to have every last frame-per-second at the highest res.

Having said that, I personally ordered an X800XT-PE because I'm good at fighting and talking to girls.

The price is nice, so I'm hanging on to the impossible dream, that one day, they might actually have some in stock, and maybe even post one to me.

Like Martin Luther King, I too have a dream. Mine is slightly less realistic though. They'll never come into stock... they don't exsist. Its all a big joke by ATi.

Bouncin mate, you gave up the ghost too early. I got the following email today:

    "Dear Vaul

Thank you for your email. Stock has now arrived and your order should be with you by Wednesday at the latest via Amtrak Couriers.

    Kind regards,

Yay! X800XT-PE in the next 2 days. Lets see what it can do...

I was already to buy one the other day went to add my card and then ah they don't accept solo I mean what kind of internet store in England doesn't accept solo, I've never had a problem anywhere else before. I think I'm going to wait till PCI-Express takes off now and build a whole new pc then. Glad your getting your card soon Vaul I'm sure you'll enjoy it

WOOT! Vaul I got the same email, looks like luck has indeeeed landed!

And read this review an comparison between a 6800U @ 450/1200 and a standard X800XT PE... the X800 owns in about every test. 95% of my games are DirectX, not OpenGL, and thats what im bothered about... http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/6800andX800XT/

I upgraded from a 128mb 9700 pro to a sapphire radeon x800xt pe. I was going to get the evesham cos it was so cheap but they never actually seemed to have any. I ended up spending £350 on my card. There is a massive visible difference in performance at HIGHER resolutions. I don't know about the other x800 cards cos i'm no expert but the sapphire overclocks to 570/610 using ATI tool straight out of the box using 4.7 drivers and no additional cooling. I'm sure most ati x800's overclock nicely though.
