PCIe 3.0 on X79 - have you tried it?

So we all know the debacle of Nvidia not properly supporting pcie 3.0 on X79, and the reg hack that can force it (and the exe that is supposed to enable it for you but does or doesn't work properly),

    has anyone else tried it?

for my 2c, I actually found that I get about 5-10fps WORSE when I enable pcie 3.0 on mine!

which I'm not too happy about as I bought it specifically for pcie 3.0 / tri-sli or more and I'm stuck at pcie2.0 (albeit 16x/16x currently), but it also means that I'm stuck waiting for an Ivy-E before I think about 3-way or quad SLI

what about AMD users? is yours reporting running at pcie 3.0 on X79 (I don't know if there's a way to disable it down to 2.0 to compare?)

When PCIe 9.0 comes out, maybe all the other parties will have got their heads together! Nothing new seems to work flawless at first, we are the guinea pigs. mmm!
