9800 Pro (Oh no, not another one!)

Simple question: how long do you think it'll be able to handle the latest games at reasonable settings (i.e. medium settings, 1024x768). I'm considering getting one, but I don't mind turning down the settings to bottom so long as I get a decent frame rate.

Also, how will it compare to the next crop of mid range cards (X600, 6600)? I would have thought it would either be on par with them, or beat them, considering the 9800 Pro has a 256-bit bus compared to their 128-bit buses?

    Thanks

    Mike

It'll handle the next year at least if not 18Months. THe 9800Pro is better than the X600 alraeady as it's basically a 9600XT with faster memory in a PCI-Express guise.

9800pro should handle 1024+high details in all games released int he next 12 months and for medium details at least a year after that. just look at how long the gf4ti cards have been able to hang on! the latest midrange cards are firmly behind the 9800pro and i wouldnt expect that to change until dec 2004 to mid 2005. truly unbeatable value, when you actually need something more youll get an x800 or 6800 for very little cash.
