First off, hello everyone. I used to come here a lot like 8 years ago but haven't in a while and can't seem to recall my login. Please excuse the lack of links (due to not having 5 posts yet -_-)
So the main part of of my question is regarding CrossfireX. I'm going to be using 2 XFX 6870's and I want to have 2 dual DVI's to power 2 monitors at 2560x1440. Will this be possible using CrossfireX since each card only has one dual DVI out?
I know old crossfire it wouldn't work on. As far as I can tell, it seems like CrossfireX should work but I wanted to check with some more experienced builders to confirm. This is really the question I need answered.
If anyone is curious, or wants to take a look over the rest of my setup the details are below.
Essentially, I am looking to upgrade my monitors and want to get 27" ones. A friend of mine turned me onto those awesome looking 27" 2560x1440 ACHIEVA Shimian QH270-IPSB on ebay. I would like to have 2, but I only have a single dual DVI port on my card so I will need to upgrade or get a second card. My plan was to order a second copy of my current card and crossfireX them together to obtain better performance and the second dual DVI port I need.
The other option I was thinking was to get a mini displayport to dual DVI adapter for the second monitor, but from what I can tell (someone correct me if I'm wrong) it seems like it will only push 1920x1080.
My fallback option would be to run the second monitor at 1920x1080 and deal with the inconsistent resolution (although I think I would just get 2x 1080p monitors before I did this).
I'm open to suggestions and questions!
Thanks in advance.
John
