    Recommend me a GPU!

    Guys,

Not been on the forum for a while, so sorry for just dropping in for the sole purpose of asking a question!

Basically, I am currently running integrated HD2000 from an i3 2100 in a small FF case. Although this has done me well for 18m or so, I want to bump up the performance a little for the little gaming I do (Civ5, CS:GO, FM13) and also to move to a dual monitor set up, which I have been meaning to do for ages!

    Requirements

    • Dual DVI connections (Monitors only have DVI)
    • Short board length (About as long as the back of the PCI-E lane itself)
    • Single slot (can do dual width fans if required, but it will be tight)
    • Low noise/temps

Performance wise, I know I am not going to get the world, but I just wannt be able to play my little games at a decent speed/res!

Budget for this is around £50 but can go higher if needed!

    Thanks in advance!

I also use a Core i3 2100 but in a modified Shuttle G2 case as a gaming rig!!

This is not single slot but is the fastest card under £60:

    It is 6.6" long:

However, you can get the reference version of the card which is shorter and has a single slot cooler:

This card OTH,looks the perfect one for you:

Here are pictures of the actual retail package:

Also, you can use DVI adaptors for the other outputs.

i used to have a 8800GT and even though its an older card, still stands out as one of the better cards

Only Direct X9 but probably slightly better than a 6670

I saw that Asus HD 6670 and I did like the fact that it had DDR5 RAM as all the reviews I read seem to suggest that the DDR3 is where the performance bottleneck hits. I think I will get my case open and measure what space I have to play with so I can make an informed decision!

Also, do you know quiet or otherwise this card is at idle/load? I use my PC for a music listening and I dont want to have a horrid whir all the time!

Also, the point about DVI adaptors.... correct me if I am horribly wrong, but will the output look the same on each screen? The reason I as is that I have duals at work (albeit on some crappy dell PC) and you can dell the difference between the DVI and the displayport powered monitors, and it annoys the crap out of me!

As for that Radeon, I saw that one too. I liked it, especially the low profile aspect, but it is a little over budget. Is the performance increase worth the extra £25?

    Thanks again Cat!

Here are some reviews of the Asus HD6670 GDDR5:

    http://translate.google.com/translat...ew_1360_2.html

    http://www.geeks3d.com/20110516/test...6670-review/6/

The VTX HD7750 is around £20 more expensive than the Asus HD6670 but an HD7750 is around 50% faster it seems:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/C...rofile/28.html

The review is done with later drivers than at launch. The much earlier Hexus review puts the HD7750 as around 30% faster than an HD6670.

There is also this single slot low profile HD7750:

    http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.a...erer=FroogleA1

    It is very expensive though.

I am not sure how the quality with the adaptors are, however, I used an HDMI to DVI adaptor when using the IGP on my H67N and the image quality seemed fine IMHO.

    Re: Recommend me a GPU!

After opening up my case, it would seem I have ample room for the Asus 6670 and the reviews seem to indicate that it is decent!

I will just have to hope that the two outputs look the same when I get them hooked up!

    Thanks for your help!
