Dont get your hopes too highbut they will probably smash in terms of price/performance ratio.
A 20% increase in performance seems a reasonable estimate IMHO. That would place the HD8870 at slightly below HD7970 level and the HD8850 at slightly below HD7950 level.
in radeon hd 89xx - 5100 transistors , and bus width of 384 bit - it means amd has unleashed a monster in gpu and its a big competition for nvidia gtx 680 (in your face nvidia) ha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The main point is when nvidia release a GPU with ok performance and which also eats money , which is when AMD steps up and gives a GPU with unbelievable performance and eats less money and everyone clearly knows more than me that the AMD FX processor achieved a Guiness World Record with a frequency of 8.429GHz where intel i7 has achieved only 7.102GHz .
So to sum it up AMD Radeon HD 8 series will be unbeatable till 2014 .
Yeah because frequency and transistor count and bus-width are the only things that matter.

Please, you're giving AMD fans a bad name. Imagine I need convincing of the technical details and explain it clearly to me - at the moment, nVidia clearly wins the performance/watt metric, which is probably the key one. They also made great cards available for a not dissimilar price to AMDs initial prices. What makes you so sure the situation is going to change so dramatically with the 8000 series? Do you know some secret technological sauce?
I think you missed the sarcasm![]()

Oh yeah and i will never give AMD a bad name & just because "nVidia" invented the GPU doesn't mean they are the best .
Guess what. Both AMD and Nvidia make great graphics cards. They are both the "best" in different ways.
