Thumbs up If you have an X800 get the CAT 4.9 Beta NOW!!!!....

.... I was never happy with how Doom 3 played. It looked choppy and couldn't compete with Far Cry visually.

I upgraded from the 4.7 to the recently released 4.8 and there was no difference.

As soon as I installed the 4.9beta drivers there was a huge improvment. It runs much smoother and the textures are displaying as they should be. You will also notice that there is colour in Doom 3!!

If you have an X800pro or XT you will know what I am talking about.

I noticed an improvment in Far Cry too.

    Download them now!!!

After you've uninstalled the old ones, you might want to try something like Driver Cleaner. Then just restart and stick the new ones on.

Ill be waiting for the omegas anyway, but I assume the changes would also be good on a 9500np too? not just limited to x800 (smoothing out bugs etc..)
This has the re-written opengl driver?

I b0rked my uber fast 9700 so I need every tweak I can for this 9500np non-softmod card, its just so SLOOOOOW

If your looking for the Cat 4.9 Beta Drivers go to www.ati.com. In the search box type 4.9beta and it will pop up.

Yea, I am havin the same prob. I think its because the drivers are only Beta. I just ignore them and click cancel each time. Its worth it for the improvement on Doom 3.

Hang on, you're calling him a n00b because you didn't realise that beta drivers might have a few issues?

    EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Rave.

Cm UK, They are beta released drives for a reason. This issue will not damage your computer. Its just part of the installation that wont be finished off untill the drivers are fully released.

They are not issues as such, they're just the video in/out part of the graphics card (WDM I think). If you ever use Omega's then you might know what I mean. I always have 2 unknown pieces of hardware.

Just disable them in the Device Manager, then they won't annoy you upon each startup.
