    7850 2gb v 7850 1gb v 6870 DD

Is there a large jump between the 1gb and 2gb? Are the 7850 worth the jump in price (a 2gb being aroudn £155, and a 6870 DD being around £124) Just curious while searching the market for a graphics card for a new build

Depends on your setup and the programs you run. Gaming doesn't really need 2GBs of VRAM unless you use dual monitor setups. If you would be gaming in a single monitor, 1GB is enough (and you probably won't even cap that). If you do graphics related software like CAD, photoshop and others alike, it would eat some VRAM more than 1GB. 6870 is inferior to 7850 I believe:

It uses more power, less pixel rate. If you want to futureproof your build like if you do plan to use dual monitor setups in the future and you don't mind paying the extra £25.. why not get a 2gb

Thanks for the answer, found another 7850 2gb OC for £5 less so i guess i may as well future proof the build, will save me a little on electricity as well! I also just read that the beta 12.11 drivers for 7850 are just amazing for the price of the card!

    Re: 7850 2gb v 7850 1gb v 6870 DD

I would get the 2GB as it is beginning to be used in new games. E.g. Skyrim + HD Texture pack will use more than 1GB of VRAM, even without any AA.

If you get 1GB you may regret it in the future when a new game comes out that can use more.

ya 2gb vram is the minimum u'd want to get now. dont get the 7850 1gb unless you're really on a super tight budget

7850 2gb hands down, newever cards are soooo much better than even an older 'higher' model. 7850 can overclock to great levels and be on par with 7870, this gives them really good value. Go for 2gb since like the person above me said, is the minimum you should go for today.

Actually I have a 7850 1GB, no problems if you play at FullHD resolution with any games! I only had some little problems with Crysis 3 Alpha, and I had to lower settings to medium....but it was an Alpha! lol
