    Grahic's card died. PLease help

Was playing Hidden and Dangerous II using my Leadtek GF FX5600, then all the graphics went weird, I thought the game had crashed so I did a reboot and after posting the computer failed to boot up. I took the card out and used the onboard graphics and it worked. I put the Graphics card in another PC and it failed to boot. Anyone know if there is a solution to this?

Brought this card second hand. Original owner not sure where it came from, is there anyway I can find if it's still covered under warranty? No box or manual either.

Chances are they would want to see the original receipt.

Look on the bright side: it was a FX5600, so you know you wanted to get rid of it. :-)

The card maybe dead due to either something major (i.e. GPU/RAM blown), or something minor like a solder joint or capacitor. Might be worth seeing if you can find someone good with electronics who could at least have a stab at a repair for you - I had a Playstation2 that broke out of warranty and managed to find a guy who did a cheap and great job of fixing it. Have you inspected it? Anything look blown/loose on it? Obviously if it's major (GPU/RAM) you are a bit buggered. I'd still trying pushing the manufacturer, as they may offer you a replacement at a cheap price (or might even RMA replace it for you - don't tell them it's second-hand, just say you lost your original receipt.) Gotta be worth a try...

    thanks son of a gun

yeah i tracked the card down to being sold by a company called novatech, i then used the guys postcode who sold it to me to get an order number and now they have said i can RMA it and given me a number it was brought in Oct 2003 and still have 5 weeks cover left, so i'm glad in a way that it did die, i wonder if i will get the same card! with a bit of luck i will get a newer one!!

If I was you, I'd insist on a 6800 Ultra - because of the mental anquish you've had to suffer. :-)
