Lookinf at upgrading my graphics card and just wondered what the best router was to go for a 680 GTX SLI or 690 GTX configuration.

Unless you're limited on slots, two 680GTXs.
OTH,I suspect a GTX690 would have more consistent scaling??
The SLI solution is slightly noisier and more power hungry, but it will be cheaper.
If it was me I'd go for 670 SLI very nearly as powerful, but quite a bit cheaper.
Or even 7970 CF, still cheaper and just as fast depending on average.
I presume you are on 3x 1080p?
Thanks for the advise. I have just got one 1440p screen, I just tend to upgrade every 18 months, so was just thinking of the best route. I will look into the 670 GTX and see how much of a difference there is. Out of the 670, 680 & 690 which has the best OC capabilites running on the stock cooler?
Thats good to know. Thanks!
There are 2 670 variiants I would recommend:
Either this one, purely on price £263 and because even a bog standard 670 SLI will be plenty for a single 1440p monitor.

Or this one if you want to go nuts with overclocking:

MSi Power Edition is both extremely quiet and a great overclocker, one of the best cards out there despite the low price from Scan.
Second the EVGA 670 FTW in sli. More cost effective and almost as powerful as a reference 680.
Deo Adjuvante non Timendum
Yes, I checked out the reviews. I would have never thought of checking that, so thank you very much, can't believe how close the benchmarks are. Will definitely be going for the 670 GTX SLI now. So the EVGA GTX 670 FTW is the best one to go for?
As I said above I would give the edge to the MSI Power Edition card, it may not be quite as fast out of the box, but you should be able to easily overclock it yourself. I would bet on it outperforming the EVGA FTW card given some tweaking.
It will definitely run cooler and quieter, and these low temps will aid overclocking:

As Hexus note here:
http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphi...0-ftw/?page=10
The EVGA card loses out at top speeds due to slightly weaker cooling design.
And on top of all that the MSI card is on sale, saving you £10 for two cards.
Thanks that's good advise. Does the MSI Power Edition better option than the Asus DirectCU II I see the Asus runs cooler, but will they OC about the same anyway?
The difference will be minimal, it's impossible to predict OC results, but there is no way the Asus card will be significantly better.
The Asus card mentioned in both reviews is the TOP version:

This is over £73 more expensive and probably no faster, or at least not measurably so.
I was looking at the non-TOP version, that is alot more expensive! Thanks for all the advice guys, this forum is great. Off topic, i'm trying to register for free carriage, but it asking for my Nexus ID, i'm not sure what that is, i've tried my username but guess that's wrong!
