Currently running a GeForce GTX 460. Want to upgrade to something 'around' the £100 mark. All suggestions welcome![]()
What sort of games are you playing?? What other parts are you using,ie, what CPU and what PSU??
Not sure anything will be a big upgrade for around £100. You can get a pre-overclocked HD7770 which is around HD5850 1GB level performance,ie,not massively faster. The GTX650TI is faster but is slightly worse than a GTX560 non-TI or an HD6870,which is a bit more faster than an HD5850 1GB.
The minimum upgrade I would go for is this HD7850 1GB:

It has gone down to £120 at times,so it would be worth picking up when its on offer. However,I would be probably looking at a GTX660 2GB or HD7870 2GB as a minimum if it was me. ATM price/performance of this generation has started to get better, but IMHO there is room for improvement.
Edit!!
Novatech have the same card advertised with some games:

I am not sure what the games are but it could be at least Farcry3 so you will need to give Novatech a ring. I suppose you could ditch the game to get the card closer to £100??
You can also get a few quid cashback on Novatech purchases too:

I think for a £100 budget, I would stay with your card until you can afford a bix extra for something better.
The 650 Ti is adequate for Black Ops but there are much better cards for a only a little bit extra:
It should be playable at 1080p as long as you don't turn on 8x MSAA.

If you can stretch to a 7850 that is a much better bet and will last you longer.

Just echoing what Cat & Willzzz have said but if it was me I would really try to save up a bit extra and get a 7850, ideally a 2GB card.

I think having the 2GB of VRAM will stand you in good stead for games that come out in the next year or so. Generally when I check afterburner on my system I see that over 1GB of VRAM is being used although I do like having the image quality and AA set as high as I can.
Whilst it sounds as though Black Ops 2 isn't too hard on the system: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages..._review,6.html
Battlefield 3 for instance will really love having a 2GB card and I would expect more games in the future to use the Frostbite 2 engine that Battlefield 3 is based on.

I would hold off for now. Your current setup is more then enough to play BO2 at high settings just without AA. Im not sure if the 460s can use TX/FXAA but if it can id use that instead.

According to the Nvidia website a kepler based card (ie 600 series) is required to use TXAA.

I think the 400 series should be able to use FXAA fine though. I'm reasonably sure I had it on my GTX 480's anyway.
I agree that it would be worth at least trying the game on your GTX 460 first if you haven't already. The Guru 3D benchmarks seem to indicate that you don't need a monster card to get the game looking good. If the performance isn't what you want then changing to another card is still an option. I would then still seriously think about going for a 2GB 7850 though if you can stretch your money that far![]()

BF3 will make no difference at 1080p, it is only at higher resolutions that you will need more than 1GB, and quite frankly a 7850 is not adequate to play BF3 at higher resolutions. The only game that might matter is Skyrim with high res textures.
A 1GB 7850 is a great card, if you can stretch to a decent 2GB 7850 you can probably stretch to a 660.
I've got a GTX460 myself. I've come to the conclusion that you won't be blown away with any upgrade until you spend £200 at least. 7950 or 670.
The 7850 at stock will be a modest upgrade, the 660 at stock a little better. Overclocked you might be fairly impressed. But even then these cards are £150 or more.
I'm hoping the soon to be released 7890 shakes things up a bit.
However you won't get a decent upgrade for £100, even going 2nd hand.
Yeah that's true. You are better off saving up for a GTX660 or better.
This gives a handy impression of where the 460 rates compared to current gen cards:

Although bear in mind that this is pre 12.11 drivers for AMD.
What about a gtx 560ti
Go with a 7850 1GB! Cheap and fastI can play all latest games at full-hd with filters
