Hi.
As the title suggests, im in the market after xmas for a new card; currently a GT440 which isnt doing to badly, but i would like a solid 60fps in bf3 etc ( currently getting 40-50, with all settings and cfg on low as possible)
Am needing to run 1080p
just upgraded to a 650w psu,
i5 cpu
8gb ram
budget of £150 tops ( or wife will have my balls in a sling)
prefer to stay with nvidia. i have had a good look around the favorite sites, and totally baffled lol.

What is the make of the PSU?? The cheapest GTX660 is on Scan ATM and that costs £160.The best you can get if you have a hard £150 is an HD7850 2GB. However,it might be investigating the games bundles which come with both cards,as you might be able to ditch them to drop the cost,ie,get a GTX660 or HD7870 for under £150 if you sell the games.
An HD7850 1GB can also be had for around £130 or a bit less on special offer though:

Don't buy a 7850 for over £150 it is worse than the 660.
I'm sure there are some bargain 7850s out there, but if you can afford the 660, then that would be the perfect choice imo.
I can't see the 660 coming down in price any time soon, £160 is already very good, and it won't be competing with the 7890 anyway.

Try to spend the extra £15 to £20 if possible,but still wait until the HD7890 is out which is 8 days time.
I don't really see it happening, there is already a £50 difference between the 660 and 660 Ti. As we discussed on the other thread the 660 Ti doesn't really deserve this price premium, so it could happily come down in price without making the 660 look bad.
The 7870 currently costs around £15 more for very similar 1080p performance so I think the 660 could stand some extra competition on that front as well without having to drop in price.
