Of course, once you've read a 1'000 *decent* TFT reviews you quickly begin to understand that these 'xxx ms response times' don't actually translate to a better displays. Tom's and Anand's have pointed this out in many of their TFT group tests. A lot of these faster refresh displays also seem to achieve it at the expense of the colour range they can handle (i.e. 6 bit rather than 8 bit).

Still, I'll wait and see how things turn out in the reviews. For now, though, I'll stick with my 4ms reponse time 19 inch CRT - even though you wouldn't want to drop it on your toes! :-)

Yeah, we were deploying HP TFT1930s where I worked a couple of months back. They probably didn't have great response times on spec, but they looked the business and there was no evidence of ghosting that I could notice. I was very impressed. Not sure how much they cost though.

BenQ are ready to relase the worlds first 8ms display. So i wouldnt get too exited about 12ms

This is the spec of the display

Model:BenQ FP71E+ which includes: a resolution of 1280x1024, a contrast ratio of 600:1, a brightness of 300 nits and D-Sub/DVI-D inputs. It weighs 4.7 kg. The price has yet to be confirmed for the UK. Btw its a 17" screen. Id say its quite well spect. I just hope it performs during testing/reviews.

Wow, this year defietly seems like the one TFT finally starts goign mainstream.
Both prices and technology are starting to make them look attractive in every sense.
And finally everyone is making nice looking casing too

I got an Ultra but i dont like games that high imuch prefer the res 1280 by 1024. also whoever says that all games run totally smooth on 1600 by 1200 is a liar ! hehehe. i have a amd 64 3500 and they run ok but nowhere near nice and smooth as 1280 !
