I just came to post this after a friend sent me the link, was wondering if you'd beat me to it.

Good article, including the price/value comparison in the conclusion.

He literally just sent me the message wondering if you had uploaded it, and sure enough you had... you're very quick sir!.
Good read for anyone interested in seeing how much drivers boost performance, especially for the AMD cards and just seeing how the cards stack up against the most demanding games with the latest drivers. Just a couple of quick questions from me if anyone can answer, on the benchmarks it mentions the 7950 Boost, which versions of the card are "boosted" and is this exclusive to a certain manufacturer like XFX for example?

Re: Full current graphics card ranges tested(uses Catalyst 12.11 and GeForce 310.61)

It's just a BIOS update to allow higher clocks on the 7950, most existing cards should be upgradeable. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/A..._BIOS_Upgrade/

And credit goes to ^ for linking me.

Edit: Also: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphic...e-Boost-Review This includes a link to an executable BIOS updater.

Just be sure to read all of the warnings and try to do some research on your card to avoid bricking it.

I'm amazed that the 660 Ti makes it as a top pick, it seems to benefit from being the only card in the $250-$300 price bracket.
    Where's that 7890 got to?

The GTX 660 seems to be a really solid bet in terms of price/performance and is also in just the right place to have a broad appeal as well.
Not to mention that some models are cheaper than many 7850s.

I think AMD recently mentioned a model between 7870 and 7950, not sure when it'll be out though.

Bring on the 8000 series, can't wait to see the yields AMD can pull out of the next generation of cards and hopefully drivers a bit quicker than last time

Re: Full current graphics card ranges tested(uses Catalyst 12.11 and GeForce 310.61)

Did the author miss the fact that the 650Ti is at least 20% more expensive than the 7770? Should've had a plain 650 in there to make it a fair comparison, and I think we know who wins at the bottom end

Interesting to see that the 12.11 drivers and GHz edition definitely push AMD to the top of the pile though (except in a couple of DX9 games) - that's a good result for Graphics Team Red. And OMG that CPU bottleneck on Borderlands 2! That's an i7 3960X WTH is that game engine doing?

Re: Full current graphics card ranges tested(uses Catalyst 12.11 and GeForce 310.61)

Borderlands 2 is quite CPU dependent, even on the default low PhysX setting. Tried running it on medium PhysX on the CPU and my Core i3 2100 did not like it. Changed over to a Xeon E3 and it was somewhat smoother. Even with PhysX set to low,it does seem to use all 4 cores on my Xeon E3.

Re: Full current graphics card ranges tested(uses Catalyst 12.11 and GeForce 310.61)

I just assumed it was a 75fps frame rate limiter on Borderlands 2 considering how it consistently maxes there; you expect at least a bit of fluctuation within testing error margin if it was a bottleneck?
