2 Graphics cards in ons rig?

I have a AIW 9800, and a AIW lying around.... I read a artical in Maximum PC mag where they used a AGP and PCI vidio cards in the same sytem! I wish to try this!!! I have no Idea what I am doing or how I will control the cards.... I will be instaling the AIW after I post this thread! If anybody has any info on who I get this to work please let me know!

2 ATI graphics cards should work perfectly fine together... the only combination that wont work is Nvidia & ATI...

I personally use an ATI AIW 9600 Pro agp with a Matrox G-450 DVI PCI, and run 4 monitors. The only problem.... is you cannot run the ATI Control Desktop on start-up without getting errors. You have to disable the option for running the prog by right-clicking your desktop, then going Properties/advanced/options - uncheck 'Enable ATI taskbar icon application'

Mind you, I have no idea how the brand spankin' new ATI modular control center works.. as I don't use it.

Just make sure to keep the PCI graphics card in PCI slot 2.. and keep NOTHING in PCI slot 1 (it steals resources from the AGP slot if you do, and can create conflicts with other programs.)

Personally, I recommend not using adjacent PCI slots (1,3, & 5). I have my Creative Audigy 2 in slot 4, so the rumors of Creative's cards being monsters for conflicts seem to be greatly exagerated.

Also, in BIOS, after you have installed the PCI graphics card, you need to set AGP as your initial graphics adapter.
