It is meant to have 896 shaders and is faster than an HD7850 in BF3 and Crysis3:

We will have to wait and see if that is true or not!!
It seems to use 768 shaders. Here are some leaked scores:

Despite, only having a 75MHZ increase in clockspeed over an HD7770 and 128 extra shaders, the performance seems much higher.

its a tactic which bears its risks, but is very clever at the same time.
On one hand they get to iron out the issues on the new technology before they bring out the flagship card which should allow them a much smoother release, on the other hand the opposition will have an idea what to expect and can adjust their RnD efforts to fit.
I guess the other factor is that this is exactly the market that most people buy into, middle and upper middle range cards are the biggest bulk sellers because they hit an appealing price rage range that is accessible to most.
This could be a real bargain card though and definitely one to keep an eye one!

Nvidia is releasing a modified version of the GTX650TI as a response:

I have two friends who are after new cards and i've pushing them towards the 7850, so it will be nice if this is faster and cheaper.
Can't see GPU boost doing much for the 650Ti rehash, though? The bandwidth will provide a decent boost though i'd imagine.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I have a feeling the HD7790 will be slightly slower, but then you might be able to get a 2GB one for less than the price of an HD7850 1GB.

650Ti revamp later this week?NVIDIA has dropped prices on GTX 650 Ti & GTX 660s. Due in tomorrow morning, grab a bargain! These prices now make NVIDIA very competitive again, especially the GTX 660 priced near or at HD 7850 prices!!

The GTX650TI Boost Edition with a higher clockspeed and 192 bit memory controller.
It could actually be quite close to an HD7850,and if HD7790 pricing, would be really good value.
The HD7790 needs to be closer to £100 IMHO.
OTH,HD7850 2GB prices have been dropping as basic cards have around £140 for the last few weeks.
Even, the best HD7850 2GB IMHO,ie,the PCS+ which runs at 1GHZ is around £157 at Novatech and was £153 at Ebuyer:

Plus, the game bundle is pretty good too.
Now,I do hope bog standard HD7870 cards start hitting £150 to £160 due to the lower GTX660 prices,as the HD7870LE/XT made it somewhat redundant. Ebuyer did have the 1150MHZ HD7870 Vortex II for under £170,but it sold out quickly.

I'm not sure about this boost edition, the increased memory bus is mainly useful at higher resolutions and this card just doesn't have the shaders to make those resolutions viable.

You could be right, but looking at the difference of the GTX650TI and GTX660 average scores on TPU,a card positioned halfway would be nearly HD7850 level performance. We will soon find out!!
Yeah,HC hinted Nvidia had a response already, and there are pictures of the cards already. They look more like GTX660 cards.
Just seen on Aria theres the "Arianet" 7850 1gb for sale for 122 quid. Surely that's a good deal?
