    670 or 680

Right then guys. Serious subject here.
I currently have a MSI 580 OC and im looking upgrade for extra performance until the Maxwell chip is available.
I have always gone for the X80 of the nvidia series of releases but with the 600 series I have a bit of a dilemma......
After reading many reviews today it seems that the 670 is almost on par with the 680 in regards to gaming performance.
Yes I understand the 670 will need some overclocking and I was leaning towards the EVGA FTW but is there a reason I should spend the extra 100 quid on a 680?
I currently game on a 120htz 24 inch monitor at 1920 x 1080. The card will be coupled with an i7 2600k at 4.4ghz, 16 gb ddr3 ram and 850 pro corsair gold psu.
I will be looking to upgrade the monitor when more reliable 120htz 1440 res monitors are avaliable but like I said before I will look to get Maxwell in 2014.
    Suggestions will be greatfully received.

Oh FYI I like BF3 and will be getting BF4. I also play alot of RPGs as well as RTS games. Smoothness is paramount and the higher the frames the better. Money is not a massive issue but I like to see value for money also.

since you game at 120Htz and you are looking to upgrade to 1440p as well I personally think the 680 will be the better option, if you were at 1080p with 60Htz I would have said 670 for sure

Ye a agree with azaz|187 on that if u have a look at the anandtech bench site you can compare these cards against specific games and also different screen resolutions so you can see for your self which is best to get, but id recommend the 680 if u have the money

    Re: 670 or 680

A friend of mine has the Gigabyte 670 running at 1900x1080 on an i7 950 with 6GB RAM and I have the Gigabyte 680 currently running at 1440x1080 on an i7 980 with 12GB RAM. Can we tell the difference - no. At present no games we have really test these cards newest game we've got is Assassins Creed 3. Had it not been for a second hand 680 I would have gone for a 670. Also bearing in mind we're both only on PCIe2.0 so on paper we're slower than more modern machines.

    Re: 670 or 680

OK guys thanks for the input. I have gone with the 680 POV SuperCharged card with teh white back plate. The card is the best 680 out there in terms of performance and i can see the future driver releases making it even faster.

I also PCI 3.0 so this may also prove to be advantageous going forward. Just need to wait until tomorrow for it to arrive!!!
