    Best 7950

    Which 7950 do I choose?
I can't spend more than £250, but ideally it would be closer to £200.

    So far I've seen:
    HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-065-HS

    Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...56&subcat=1673

MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...56&subcat=1673

    XFX 7950 3GB Black DD Edition - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-x...s-hdmi-mini-dp

    Thanks.

    Re: Best 7950

Gigabyte offer UK support as in they have a UK address that deals with RMA and Warranty issues and I think Sapphire offer this too, as far as I know the rest of them have service centres that are in Europe or further afield.

    Re: Best 7950

What do you want from the card? Do you plan to put it under water? Get an MSI from Overclockers as they allow third party coolers .
If you are sticking with stock cooling get the gigabyte, it will be quieter I reckon.

    Re: Best 7950

The Gigabyte, MSI and Sapphire are all good cards. Think the MSI 7950 was at one point using referance 7970 boards, somthing to check if you want to watercool. My opinion on which card though is biased as I own a vapor-x . It is the later 8+8 pin model and runs cool and quiet on the stock BIOS and runs a bit hotter on the boost BIOS due to the large voltage it uses (1.25V). Do not have any VRM cooling problems which some people reported. On the stock BIOS (~1.1V) I run it at 1050 core and stock memory wich gives me ~55 degrees on core at 40% fan. On the boost BIOS it runs steady at 1200 core and 1300 memory thanks to the voltage but my memory is awful at overclocking. I believe the lastest vapor-x's using Trixx 4.6 are voltage unlocked but mine is voltage locked on the older BIOS, no real rules as to whether yours is voltage locked or not so look at it as a bonus not a guarantee.

Purchase the vapor-x from Dab's over amazon as for the extra £6 you get Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite game codes as well. Believe only the American Amazon does the AMD game bundle not the UK one.

    Re: Best 7950

I'd have to agree about the Vapor X. They are certainly one of the best of the bunch. If I were to go on RMA service alone however then Gigabyte will get my vote.

If you order from Dabs, one of their nice services they offer is that if the item is DOA then they will organise a pickup for your item free of charge. However it will take 3-4 weeks to refund you however, so bare this in mind.

    Re: Best 7950

Newer Gigabyte's are apparently on the 7970 PCB and hardware voltage locked.

I have a Ghz edition which came with FZ1 BIOS, had to flash F43 BIOS to unlock the voltage. Got it running stable @ 1150/1500 but won't go any higher, would've liked to get it up to 1200!

It is a great card but I can't help but wish I'd went for the Vapor-X!

    Re: Best 7950

I was looking at those a few weeks back and after much deliberation I instead went for the VTX3d 7870 Black. To be fair my main reason was I wanted Tomb Raider over Crysis 3 and its about £50 cheaper than a 7950 for very similar performance which brings it under the £200 mark. This card is based on the Tahiti and not the Pitcairn that you would normally find in a 7870.

I haven't had to deal with there customer service and in an ideal world I'd hopefully never have too. I'd also go through reseller if I did.

The only Manufacturers that I've had any really good service from are Asus and Gigabyte.

Yeah in the UK it's worth choosing your reseller at least as importantly as your manufacturer, if you're looking at customer service/returns.
