Question Replacement fan/cooling for MSI 550GTX TI

Hey guys does anyone know where I can get a replacement fan or cooling solution for a MSI N550GTX-TI MD1GD5 v2?

The card I have works fine but a few of the fan fins are broken. When in use the card sounds like a broken jet engine!

Also am I right in thinking I can take the cover off and just swap over the fan with a replacement?

I have spoken to my supplier and they are telling me to contact msx, and I have contacted msx who are telling me to contact my supplier

    Thanks!

Does anyone know how I can find the spec of this fan? I'm sure RS would have a replacement.

No idea on a replacement fan but couldn't you just take the shroud and fan off and stick a 120 fan on it? The heatsinks appear to just be a finned piece of aluminium. VRMs may need taking into consideration.

If you really want to go ahead...

    Replacement fan.

    Disassembly video.

Yes its for the gtx560, but should theoretically be the same/similar? I do not have a 550ti myself but would you be able to compare the card in the vid to your card?

    Perfect! Thank you!

I've done some looking into this and it seems the fan in the ebay link is slightly too big at 85mm, however I've found a 75mm version of the same thing which should be an almost exact replacement.

Re: Replacement fan/cooling for MSI 550GTX TI

    Erk. I done goofed.

You have the reference 550 ti. Both my links are useless!

But as mentioned here the fan shroud is only held on via the 4 screws on the back and nothing else? So taking those screws out would allow you to remove the shroud, but you would need to take care and avoid removing the actual heatsink.

    http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=177381

The fan is held on by three screws, not too hard to get off.

I was wrong about the size of the fan needed, like you have pointed out, but to de sure you might as well measure the fan yourself. Even if the fan in the new link does not have the msi sticker on it you can take the old sticker off the broken fan, put it on the new one and nobody will be none the wiser.

I know that this may sound a little obvious, however are you aure that you cannot rma the card and get the fan replaced by the manufacturer?
