This depends entirely on the games that you play, it's worth looking at benchmarks. You're probably looking at roughly doubling your framerate with this upgrade (again, dependant on the game!)
It's definitely worth considering the AMD option with the Radeon HD 7850 at this price range, since it provides excellent performance for the price.
What budget are you looking at?? A 650 boost would be a good upgrade though.
The GTX650 will be much faster but as said a HD7850 would be much better again.
I would suggest this card in particular as Sapphire are an excellent vendor for AMD cards.
Nice card but your into 660 price territory and the 660 is a faster card.

From a benchmark http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549?vs=680
HD 7850 seems better value for money if you can spend a bit extra. You can get them for cheap Dabs, Aria and Novatech have them quite cheap
While this is true, it's worth noting that the 7850 is an amazing overclocker and could be pushed extremely far if the user is comfortable with this. The excellent cooling solution on my linked example in particular makes this a realistic target
Edit: My decision would be split between the Sapphire 7850 and this.
You can pick up a HD7850 from overclockers for £128 but you can also get a 650ti for the bargain price of £99.
I'm not sure what I would go with TBH. Save £30 and go for the slower card or buy the faster card and get 2 games...
I wouldn't recommend the £128 "bargain" 7850s since they only have 1gb of VRAM. This MSI card is £149.74 though.
I would definitely skip the 650 Boost, get a GTX660. They are only about £5 extra and a lot faster.
