It's better than nothing, aye. But forgive me if I'm not that excited.

Oh and there are rumours of a Titan Ultra with the extra SMX enabled, kind of interesting, but not for us normal folk.

    Re: Graphics card upgrade time?!

It might force AMD to make their move with the 8000 series. Especially as the 780 will probably be about 10-15% faster than the 7970.

    Re: Graphics card upgrade time?!

A Titan based SKU for the top end GTX700 series card and the lower end cards probably going back to a 256 bit memory controller. I had an inkling for a while that the latter would happen, bah!!

Looks like I should have waited!!

OTH,the value of my HD5850 1GB would have gone down I suspect.

The Metro:Last Light promo lasts until June 15th,so I wonder if that is around the time the other cards get launched too??

    Re: Graphics card upgrade time?!

Yeah but AMD will do the same thing, it'll be some minor improvement, not a new generation.

Anyway the Titan LE still isn't going to rival the 7970 for price.

    Re: Graphics card upgrade time?!

I may just get the 780 then. I was feeling like a change to AMD, but this might just swing it for me.

This is what happens AMD when you stand still. But i'll see what their 7990 is like tomorrow and crucially the pricing!

OTH,it could be simply a case of AMD waiting and seeing what Nvidia has up their sleeve first. They did that with the HD4000 series AFAIK.

I might be ditching this GTX660 quicker than I though!!

That's unexpectedly early for the 780, isn't it?

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Graphics card upgrade time?!

AMD are already doing something similar a la 7790. HD 8000 is already taken up by OEM cards, like Nvidia's GT 300 series a while back so it would be interesting to see what AMD would do if they wanted a new naming system for the refresh, also considering they've already started pushing them into the HD 7000 series.

It's not at all surprising they're releasing a Titan LE, in fact I was half expecting it for the original Titan considering the huge die and associated yields. Maybe they wanted to get a (nearly) fully enabled GK110 GPU out first as a sort of halo product? Then, people would see GK110 on the 780 and get camping outside shops.

It will be interesting to watch performance and price though, Titan isn't a terribly efficient (in terms of transistors) gaming GPU, and the price is way beyond sensible. However, unless they've been throwing them away, they must have a *ton* of dies which don't meet GK110 standards.

The 770 looks potentially more interesting from that article, although I'm half wondering why they're not releasing a similar refresh of the 680? I.e. that as 680 and Titan LE as 680 Ti or something? Maybe performance would be too close and they're itching to offload those GK110-ish dies?

Like CI though, I'm not massively hopeful about performance - if you're not happy with price/performance of what's currently available, I don't reckon 8000/700 will have you dancing about any time soon.

@CAT: I wouldn't worry about it too much, like you said the value of your 5850 could plummet by then and I doubt 760s will be available for near that price on release, regardless of performance. Even the price of that 660 has already gone back up.

Edit: I really should refresh before posting, last read was Willzzz

Edit2: Or maybe the 7790 is sort of like the 4770, testing something new amongst the existing line-up before rolling out a full release?
