    TFT Advice (Again!!!)

Help me please! still loooking for a decent tft

    Heres what I want:

Preferably 19" screen, if not Ill get a 17".

DVI (cable included also nice but it would probably be too short knowing my luck, so not too bothered...)

Full colour range (16.7m colours? some say 16.2 or something - a was to improve refresh rates on crappy panels..?)

~16ms or less, dont want any noticable ghosting, however I read responce times dont mean that much and 16ms panels can still ghost, or something.

Black bezel. this is important. When using it at night with the lights off there is nothing worse than a bright biege bezel distracticing you form the screen. Same for silver and chrome! it does not look good!
Also if the bezel is small, and lessnoticable, thats also nice.

No dead pixels - not that theres anyway to find out before buying

I notice some say VESA compatable mounitng? whats that mean, and should I care about it.

Finally price range. I have upto £1000, but I also want to learn to drive soon, so best if it can be kept to ~£350-400, thought I could quite happly reach £600 with another weeks wages

The 2001FP is not so good for games.

SD your basicly in the same boat has me. Good luck in finding the 19"'s with dvi on, since this new eu rule came into force over dvi on tfts there are getting harder to find.

I'd say start at digiuk and see what they have in there 19" range pick the ones you like and then go check the specs out.

At this moment in time very few 19" TFTs meet your list of requirements. Features on the 19" TFTs are still lacking, and only now are 16ms panels starting to appear on that size of screen.

How soon do you have to buy it? I think shortly you'll see a lot more 19" panels with 16ms and DVI.

And the European rule is something to do with classification for levies...I think it's that any item with DVI is now considered to be a television (or something like that) and is hence subject to extra charges.

I think it was on tomshardware site.

re the tax thing. basicly since june/july this year all tfts with dvi on them have been classed has "tv's" and so subject to tax!.

btw am looking at the ag-neovo again.

It may be a 25ms pannel but it has dvi and uses 16.7m colours which is better then most i have seen

lol hey dunno if this helps but heard good things about the ViewSonic VP191s, so good trying to save some cash to get one : rockon :

P.S. I apologies if this is way off the mark for what your looking for, which I think it is as its 25ms and I shall try and keep my options to myself in future lol

this TFT seems to be popular at the moment:

Viewsonic VX910 X Series 19" TFT Monitor - over at overclockers:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/lcd18.html

    Specs are pretty decent:
    - 1280x1024 Optimum Resolution
    - 500:1 Contrast Ratio
    - Viewing Angle 176° horizontal, 176° vertical
    - 16ms Response Time
    - 250 cd/m2 Brightness
    - Two Analog Inputs
    - One DVI-D Input
    - DVI Cable Included

Also its just been reduced in price and i was looking at it myself - it's only £376 inc Vat now

Don't think they are many decent 16ms TFTs with DVI for under £400

there is a review/discussion of this monitor here:

just saw this also: 19" Sharp LL-191AB TFT

saw it when it first came out it was over £400 now its about £370

but Micro Direct have it on offer for £311!
    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/product...productID=7187

anyone know if these produce good quality colours? also why are they so cheap!
I know there is no DVI - but still seems like a bargain

    allready asked about this......

the thing about it look at the specs it says 16.19m colours...they have done this to make it a faster pannel...but by doing that they have comprimised image qual.

    thanks Apex

I think that Sharp TFT won't be all that brilliant on colours then
Also want something that will last a while and has DVI

I'm just looking around at the moment and I am hoping to get a 19" TFT early next year when newer models come out - then that will hopefully push the price down to about £350 for a decent 19" and they should be more 12/16 ms panels out

Thats the other reason i not got my tft yet...they all seem to lack the specs am looking for.

tbh theres not much in the 16/12ms it's the other specs that will make or brake a good tft imo

the sharp was int he leed for a while with me but then i started looking at the other specs with it and tbh i was not happy.

at the mo the viewsonic has jumped infront

At the moment i have a Sony GDM - 500ps 21" crt which i got around 2000 time i paid a large ammount for it cos it was the best at the time imho and it has served me well !
