    Backplates: worth it?

I have the evga 670 ftw signature 2. During gaming and especially folding temps often reach 60-70.

The cooling is not the only reason why I'd get a backplate, but if it helps that's good too :-P Just not sure if the added aesthetics are worth me dropping £30-40?

60-70 isn't exactly bad, it's not going to do any harm.

Only you can judge whether aesthetics are worth it.

Meant to say 'not sure if only better anesthetics'...

Would a backplate make any real difference to temps?

maybe 5 deg c .. can you fit any more fans to your case ?getting more air into it would prob be better .. heat is mostly on the front of the card and bleeds thru the back ..

    Re: Backplates: worth it?

I seriously doubt a 5 degree difference. Backplates don't make enough contact with the warmest components to deliver that. Most people will peg it at a 1-2 degree difference. And TBH, that may just as well be insignificant compared to having a good heatsink and fan setup and good case ventilation.

    But god they look good.

    Re: Backplates: worth it?

So that's pretty much enough confirmation that backplates are really just for looks. To be honest I hardly look into my cade anyway but would the prices come down anytime soon you reckon? I need a 680 backplate right?
