Well the 760 Ti will be a cheaper version of the 670, so you could buy that or wait until the 670s drop in price.

Havent really had the time to read up on it yet, will do soon, but how does this compare to say a 7970 crossfire setup? This could be standard non-ghz OC ones. The price of the 780 seems to be between 2x new and 2x second hand 7970s. Would that be close in performance? Or would the usual microstutter monkeys etc come into play and render 7970 crossfire a bit useless?
Just a thought really. I had always been of the "Buy one last gen card then pick up another when its even older and another gen appears" crowd, but dont know if that still stands.
What are you running ? Your profile says 3 x 7970s ?
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
7970 CF is still not working properly in many games, hopefully AMD can fix this before too long.
Is your 7970 not giving you enough performance?
Ah - that would make more sense.
I'll be waiting for the next gen. It's hardly ever worthwhile upgrading every gen.

I'll have to change it - Its the full (I guess confusing!) name of the windforce model that I have. Its only the one.
EDIT - looks like we all posted at the same time
Shame really... 7970 is doing well at 1920x1200, but the plan is to go 2560x1440, hence looking at considering 7970cf. Seems like this might not be a great idea at the moment I'll have to have a proper research about benches of the 780 at that resolution once a few driver revisions have come out - for both AMD and Nvidia - and then I'll be in a better position to decide I guess.

Or wait for the next gen. Should be Q4 I think. A poster at OCUK has strongly hinted that his pre-production 8970 (9970) is a monster.

The issue with next gen release is how much production AMD can get, they are going to be competing with Apple and Apple can afford to pay a lot more for the privilege.
Hence why Nvidia have released the intermediate 700 series, because they know that 20nm Maxwell won't be ready until 2014.
Sorry, why has this turned into some general AMD vs Nvidia debate?
The issue at hand is whether to wait for next gen right? I think it is a given that AMD will get there first, but exactly when is still unclear.
I wasn't aware that it had. We were talking about the effect that apple moving to TSMC would have on next gen production and the resulting rebrand/re-releases that both manufacturers have done in the meantime. That might affect whether you wait for a new generation or go for one of the re-releases.
Is there a way to increase the GTX 780 maximum power consumption targets?
