So looking past the obfuscation, just a refresh with newer memory? Disappointing :/ (unless those tflops are realistic)

I saw a similar chart on another forum, and it listed die sizes. If the specifications and transistor counts are true, then it looks like brand new GPUs.
IIRC,the other chart listed the HD8970 has having a 420MM2 GPU and the HD8950,HD8870 and HD8850 sharing the same GPU,which was in-between the size of the Tahiti and Pitcairn GPUs.
Yeah rebadge wasn't the word I meant to use, it all gets a bit blurred and pointless to define anywayI would expect slightly tweaked/optimised compute units, a touch faster freq and improved memory.
7 series GCN was kind of a square one GPU (in the loosest term possible)that proved very effective, so i wouldn't have expected a massive amount of revolutionary development, more evolutionary.
Bit of a shame to see the 8950 with a lower memory bus than the 8970, would have been nicer to see the 8950 part of the Curacao family but stripped back. Perhaps AMD has something up its sleeve there....
One thing I really want is AMD to shrink the PCB lengths. I'm contemplating a mini ITX build, but the cases I have in mind can't take the 79xx cards, which means I have to go to the green team if I want higher end graphics.
My guess based on the GCN 1.1 Bonaire sea island architecture scaled up 3x and 10% improvement from GCN 1.1 to 2.0.
BF3 1920X1200 4XAA
122FPS
270 watts
430mm2 die
14% improvement over a GTX Titan.
It seems the cards will be released to coincide with the BF4 launch:

Now hang on, that article talks about VI and Hawaii, not the same thing as in this leak.
A potential picture of the HD8970:

If this is true, hopefully we've seen the last of the horrid looking blower coolers.
Well I think I'll be selling my GTX680 then. I have the 7970 as well which I much prefer. Just hope they get the drivers right from the beginning this time
