GTX 470 high idle temp - Dual Screen

I recently upgraded to a GTX 470 with MSI twin fror ii cooler, which is running the games I've thrown at it really well. However, when I connect my second screen the idle temp goes from 30 to about 45-50. From a quick googling this seems normal for this series of card, which is annoying.

My question is, can I put my old GPU back in (8600GT 1Gb) and use that for the second screen, so the idle temp of the 470 is back to around 30?

You should be able to, but note that having two gfx cards will slightly increase overall temps.

How are your at load temps as your idle is fine for dual screen?

Not tried dual screen under load. Single screen under load is 50-60 (fallout new vegas, ultra settings, 1920*1200, 60fps). I just got far cry 3 today which will probably push it a bit harder, so I'll report back with temps from this.
