    Aftermarket GPU Coolers

I currently have an xfx 6850 1gb that is really annoyingly noisy and I plan on changing the cooler (I know it voids warranty I couldn't care less) but I'm not sure how to figure out if it will work on my card because they Arctic only guarantee they will fit on the reference design is there anyway to tell if it will fit? because I have no idea if mine is noticeably different that it will cause an issue and don't want to get it then have to send it back or be stuck with one I can't use.

The one I think I am going to get is http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vg...ii.html?c=2182
I know you might think its overkill but I don't plan on upgrading any time soon so while I wait I want to overclock my gpu to get that bit of extra performance and it will also bit a hell of a lot quieter and will fit will my build theme I plan on doing and I might use it on the next gpu I get if it will fit.

Wouldn't it be better to sell your card and buy a new one?

How much do these coolers cost?

    Hi there

You could go for one of these

http://www.gelidsolutions.com/produc...1&cid=17&id=52 abit better than the arctic cooling one and a lot less expensive

several places it can be bought from

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/gelid...er-for-ati-amd
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gelid-Icy-...item1e7adbafb6 <<< Free P&P
just do abit of searching for a cheaper one

    Hope this helps

    Re: Aftermarket GPU Coolers

Bought an accelero S1 for my old Gigabyte 5750. didn't fit right but I didn't quite expect it to. Had to stick it in a vice and bend the hell out of the edges to get it to fit in the case. Did cut one of the heatpipes too - thought it might release the 'magic smoke' from the whole thing but it performs really well.

    Re: Aftermarket GPU Coolers

You can pick up a few different ones ranging from £13-70 that all look pretty good the one I think I might get is £60 and if I sell my gpu I'll probably get around £50 and with the £60 I would of spent on the cooler I'd have £110 which would only get me a slight upgrade and would be no where as quiet or cool the way I see it is I can overclock my gpu while I save up and wait for the 8000 series and maybe put the cooler on the gpu I upgrade to so I wouldn't have to get an expensive version of the card with a good cooler

I'd think you could get more than £50.

You should have picked up one of those 660s when they were £130, that would have been a massive upgrade.
