    GTX660 vs HD7870

Okay, small dilemma between graphics card. I'm choosing between the GTX 660 with Metro Last Light free, and a HD 7870 with Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. There is around a £10 difference between the two cards.

    XFX AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 - £159.98
    GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 660 OC 2GB GDDR5 - £149.99

    What would you recommend?

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

Is it the 7870 Tahiti LE version? That performs better - and it'll easily outperform the GTX 660. If you don't want the games you can sell the codes.

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

I'm looking at the regular standard 7870 vs the overclocked GTX660. I can't seem to find the LE version at a justifiable price. Also, if I choose the 7870 will I not be able to use the 3 screen setup without using Display Port? I have a DVI 21.5", VGA 18.5" and HDMI 32" display. Is it correct that these will work with NVidia cards for tri screen but not Radeon cards?

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

Yeah i would get the hd 7870 just because it comes with all the games and is faster when overclocked or pay£5 more and get this:

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

How much have you got to spend because there are some amazing offers at the moment (I have seen a 760 for £190 ish and a 7950 for only £188 ) but out of the 2 you have listed I would go for the 7870 and as someone said sell the games that come with it

Undoubtedly good value, but XFX cards are not great, it's going to be loud and hot.

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

I've heard mixed reports about the XFX 7870s, some saying near silent, some saying noisy.

Aria's got some other 7870 LE models up for similar prices. Definitely get the LE version, or stretch to a 760/7950.

can this one be a good buy ?
Some nice reviews about this against a 7870 .A card i have been thinking about getting .
    It only has 1 6pin against a X2 6pin on a 7870 but performance is very good !

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

I think that the card you mention only gets better frame rates as its an over clocked edition (which is nothing you couldn't do yourself) , for me tho I reckon the 7870 is still a little faster but you can also get 7870s with 4 free games that you could probably sell for £40-50 so you could get a better (factory over clocked/better cooling) 7870
    You can get this
MSI HD 7870 Black Knight 2048M for only £168
Which sounds like more but comes with tomb raider ,BioShock infinite and fc blood dragon ,easily £40s worth on eBay so the card would only cost £128 ......

Yeah that looks like a great card at a great price.

Only having 1 6pin is a good thing.

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

Actually no copy of Metro is a bummer, get this one instead:
    http://www.dabs.com/products/msi-gef...l?q=660&src=16

Slightly older version of the cooler, but is still extremely quiet and cool.

Don't count on getting £40 for the AMD bundle, this one is currently at £5.50, keep an eye on it to see how much it actually sells for:

    Re: GTX660 vs HD7870

If only they would sell for 99p. Bioshock Infinite is worth ~£15 alone. In the completed listings they've gone for £20-£30. Probably not quite as good as selling individually, where £30-£40 is more realistic (particularly with the 4-game deal).

It may have been worth that when it was new. But there are so many people selling these codes that the price comes down pretty fast.
