LG L1915S 19in 12ms tft monitor under £300

I was just about to buy myself a benq monitor from ebuyer,

When I came across a 19" LG monitor,

It has

Now the specs for the LG look much better than the benq. Thing is I've checked the LG website and they don't list this model? I can't believe it's been discontinued being a 12ms monitor? Does anyone have any experience of either of the monitors?

Only draw back I can see is no DVI, I'm not too fussed about this tbh. I have a Lindy gold VGA cable which cost me ~£30, hopefully that should keep interference to a minimum.

I haven't seen any reviews for this model but people seem to like the L1715S, which I presume is the 17" version, although it is only 16ms? Anyhow I've ordered the LG and should receive it Monday, I'll post more comments then.

Well the cheapest I've managed to find is

which is £270, but the sake of £20 I think the 12ms LG is much better value. From the looks of things you pay on average an extra £50 for DVI input at the moment.There are some others around the £280 mark at MicroDirect.

I decided on the LG because I've heard their other TFTs are generally good, I'm just hoping that I found a bargin and I've not got what I payed for. It seems odd that the L1910B which is the other 19" LG model is nearly an extra £100. Apart from the DVI input the specs on this actually look worse (25ms).

Well the screen arrived this morning and I have to say I'm very pleased. I've not had long to examine it but from what I've seen it looks nice. I've tested a couple of games and movies and at 75Hz I can't see any ghosting at all.

Installation was straight forward, just updated the driver from the CD supplied. I checked and could find no dead pixels. I'm really impressed with the viewing angle and the anti-glare finish. My monitor faces a window and the glare on my old CRTs was quite bad, on the LG I don't really have any.

The brightness is good too, I usually have a low colour temp with low brightness as I find it easier on the eyes. Adjusting the brightness is easy, in fact it has 6 brightness/contrast presets to choose from, I think they're something like DAY-movie, photo, text and NIGHT-movie,photo,text. There is a 7th option which is user so you can have it exactly as you want it.

The OSD is simple and easy to navigate and there is a nice auto button so you can force the screen to automatically adjust its position.

I have to say this is my first TFT and have only used a few before but this is the best I've seen. From my brief experience so far I'd certainly recommend it to others.

How sharp is the screen text and dvds etc?

Good spec on that AG Neovo above^ and a fair price, but dont really like the styling on it.
At least the prices are coming down, and hopefully in a few months when I get my TFT they will be under £300 for a 19" TFT with DVI.

Does anyone know if this supposed 14% Tax affects all DVI TFTs above 17" or is it just some of them?

and the text is great, nice and crisp. Dvds look fine. I haven't and won't be able to compare it to a DVI input so I can't give a comparison. I can't see any obvious issues with the connection though.


One thing I have noticed, which may apply to all TFTs, I don't know. On D3D and OpenGL games at low resolution the text is bad, I may need to adjust something but I'm not sure what. Is this to be expected or am I missing something?

Well guys i still not got my tft from digi uk

so i asked for a full refund

i won't be getting a tft after all.

the reason games look bad at low res is because your running them below the monitors native res. They look crap at below native.
