    Best third party cooler for AMD HIS 7970 3024 GB GPU

    I have a 7970 3024 gpu... it has the stock cooler... what is the best aftermarket cooler to get...... do you think I could clock it too... make it as good as a Ghz 3dition version... the manufacturer is HIS

    Disclaimer: the last card I applied any serious effort to icing was a 6800gt.

    The ghz edition uses the reference cooler, I assume yours is the basic one and not one of the iceq models, so you already have a cooler capable of handling that overclock. I'd be tempted to just have a go, you'll probably be able to get close, although I think the ghz edition uses better rated ram so you may not get the mem clocks as high.

    If you can clock it reasonably well then you need to decide if the temperature is acceptable or not. I'd it is all you're really gaining with another cooler is a lower noise level.
