I've just flashed my 9800Pro to an XT with ATI Silencer 1 installed
The highest it got (Whilst doing a heatup in ATITOOL) was 71C, is that an OK temp?
Many Thanks
Ben

I personally wouldnt like to run it that high but I'm sure some people will say its fine.
That kind of temp will shorten the life of the GPU though. You need water cooling :p.
I havn't tried running any games or benchmarks yet, what's the difference going to be like?
Thing is that i don't know what the temps are normally like. I obviously have a temp probe on my 9800Pro (It's got overdrive etc as its a XT PCB) so are there any apps which will tell me the temp whilst im running it as a pro?
Other programs will heat it upmore, doom3 probably will..
its not too hot, I oten drink tea at ~70.. (complete guess.. next time I have a tea, im going to stick a thermocouple in it!) if it wont kill you it wont kill it... although tea might... :)
Just dont try to overclock at that temp..
I've got Doom 3, i'll try it later
Anyone know an app that will tell me the temp when its a pro?
I didn't think that ordinary pro's could read the temperature. I thought it was only 9800XTs.
ATiTool can read temps
Thats what I thought but he said his has the XT pcb,LOL probs the 360 core.Quote:

My 6800GT @ Ultra speeds runs at 63 idle and 72 absolute max, nowt to worry about ;)
well I had a 9800 pro w/r360 core (flashed to XT bios) and didn't read temps so me thinks it might be supurios
It's an XT PCB, it reads temps and has the overdrive function

There it is, all working and if you don't believe me then i'll post another pic with a different temp shown

No need to panic m8, GPUs run hotter than CPUs. If your ATI card temp starts going too far north of 70C then you can start worrying.
Id say your temp is ok as is as long as it doesnt start goign much higher.
Sorted the pic now!
If thats without errors and after a reasonable time 70 under atitool is fine. A 9800 Pro runs at 70+ using stock cooling. atitool is a lot harder on a GPU than a game - even d3 - I've found. so you will probably find temps of 65ish under true gaming.
It should read temps unless you have disabled the ATi Hotkey service.
