    7950 vs 760 vs 670

As above, I'm considering one of those three cards, and wondered what people would recommend?

I'll be using a 450W PSU (decent quality gold rated silverstone SFX), and I game at 1440p.

Or a 2nd hand EVGA 670 FTW with 2 years of warranty remaining for £185.

    Thoughts?

    Re: 7950 vs 760 vs 670

I recently had the same decision to make and ended up with a 670. Primarily because I could get a custom cooled one (i.e. quiet) in budget and I preferred Nvidia as I wouldn't then need a displayport adaptor for my second monitor.

Theres next to nothing between them benchmark wise, but my gut says the extra RAM in the AMD card makes it the one to go for. You're still going to have to back settings off in some games to make 1440 work though.

If its a new system I'd be tempted to go for a bronze PSU with SLI support - Although might not plan it now the option to chuck another card in down the line should extend the system lifetime quite a lot.

    Re: 7950 vs 760 vs 670

I was leaning towards the 7950 since it's the cheapest (just) and comes with some games which I can either play or sell so that's added value. The only downside was power consumption, since I think it is heavier than the other two, but should still be fine with the PSU so I'm not too bothered.

It's for an itx build, so no sli/crossfire for me (hence the SFX PSU as well)

    There's a Club3D HD7950 available for £160 for today only
I've read one or two reviews about these cards and they overclock quite well. Trade-off is that red PCB and they're a little noisy when the fans speed up.

Personally I would go with the GTX670 though.

    Re: 7950 vs 760 vs 670

The gtx 670 would be a good option if you don´t mind 2nd hand. Personally if you have good airflow I would go with the 760. Yes the 760 is worst than the other two but gpu boost can help a lot with good cooling

Looking for a black PCB, and I like the look of the Twin Frozr and have heard good things about it.

I don't mind 2nd hand, but it has a blower style cooler which I'm not a massive fan of based on my current card (which also has one)

Any particular reason? Seem to be around £60 more, presumably are more power hungry and may also be too big (265mm is the max length of gpu I can fit)
Is there a massive performance jump?

It looks like you missed out on some very nice MSI and Asus HD7970 deals last week for around £210 it seems!!

These were both pre-overclocked cards running at 1GHZ+ with decent custom coolers.

This is the cheapest HD7970 now:

Just to put this in big letters, as it looks like you missed it in my post, if you do go with a 670 (which I don't think you should) don't get a second hand one. You can easily get a brand new one for that price and you'll get the new holiday bundle (AC 4 & splinter cell)

Ah that's a pity, may not have been able to fit them in any case...

I just bought the MSI 7950, thought it was a good deal at £180, with the 3 free games, decent cooler, I think it looks good as well.

Sorry, I think the only 670s at that price were stock cards which I'd like to avoid if possible, and I thought that started next week?

Regardless I went with the 7950 in the end, I'm sure I'll be happy (to be honest I probably would have been happy regardless )
